Need to Start a new book

The 50 Shades post got me thinking. I just finished the Hunger Games books. I was thinking of starting the 50 Shades books but after reading the posts I'm thinking I'd rather not.

So...what are you reading? Anything you've just finished that you'd recommend?

I was recommended the Divergent trilogy (3rd book coming out next year) if you liked the Hunger Games.

Also just pre-ordered The Long Earth (clicky)... I'm a huge Terry Pratchett fan

  • Have you read The Help?? I loved it!!

I'm currently on the 2nd book of 50 shades and it's not very good, but I hate not finishing a book. I'm going to kill myself, trying to finish the 2nd and 3rd book before I die from boredom! Haha!

  • Right now I am reading Sarah's Key by Tatiana De Rosnay.  It is very good.  Have you read the Millienium series by Stieg Larsson?  I read the first one, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  It was a little hard to get into, but after the story developed it was very good and i couldn't put it down.  I am starting on the second one, The Girl who played with Fire, as soon as I am done with Sarah's Key.

  • The Help was very good.

I read Something Borrowed a couple months ago since it's weddingish and I liked it. (It really wasn't very weddingish though, they tricked me).

I'm reading the Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks right now and it's ok. Not his best but it's an easy read.

I really liked it too- I like the author, Emily Giffin. Check out Something Blue, Love the One You're With, Baby Proof, and Heart of the Matter. They're all easy to read and pretty relaxing. Nothing compared to the Hunger Games nor the 50 shades of Grey!!

  • I second Sarah's Key, The Help, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Series, and Hunger Games. I tried to read the Book Thief but I couldn't get past the first few pages. Maybe I should try harder and it will be more interesting.

I thought the Tea Rose and it's sequel The Winter Rose by Jennifer Donnelly were great. The books seem long but are very quick reads. I just found out there is a third book called The Wild Rose, so I might check it out.

I loved Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese, but the subject matter is a little heavier if you are looking for a light summer read.

For a funny read, if you like the office, I read Mindy Kaling's (her character is Kelly Kapoor) book called Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? Most of it was pretty funny.

  • I just finished On The Island. It was so good I read the entire book in 6 hours straight! It's kind of like Cast Away plot but with more action and romance.
