Non Traditional Wedding Dress

I found a dress online that I'm in love with, and I know I want it to be my wedding dress. I'm going to go to some bridal shops to try on different dresses to make sure the silhouette will look good on my figure, and I'm really hoping it will because I'm in love with this dress.
However, a few family members have expressed the concern that no one will "know" I'm the bride based on my dress. It isn't changing my mind, but I wanted feedback on the dress. Our whole wedding is pretty non traditional (our theme is punk rock) so I'm not too worried about convention...basically just wondering if anyone has ever gone to a wedding where the bride didn't wear white?

Re: Non Traditional Wedding Dress

  • I say go for it! I think the dress is awesome.. And who else would wear a dress like that at a wedding besides the bride?

  • Thanks everyone! Very comforting to hear that others have done it. And that's an excellent point...the "won't know you're the bride" BS is really irking me, but whatever. People WILL know (or there's something not quite right with their comprehension skills) and I'll be happy in my dress! :) Thanks again!
  • Still looks bridal to me, just with extra colors added. Go for it :)
  • I thought my dress was crazy, but yours has me jealous now!  Of course you'll look every inch the bride. Do it.
  • Your family members should keep their opinions to themselves.

Unless you and the groom are sitting with your guests during the exchange of vows, everyone will know you're the bride.  That is such a thoughtless and rude comment.

Any dress a bride wears is bridal.  My dress was a dusky blue color.  Your dress may not be "traditional," but it certainly is bridal.  Rock it!!
