Alternative to Wedding March

Ok since Wagner wrote the wedding march (Wagner being an important figure in the Holocaust) I don't want it played at my wedding. We're having a handfasting because I'm pagan (fiance has no religion) but I'm still walking down the aisle and all that. I'm trying to decide what to have playing. I want Luna by the Smashing Pumpkins but the fiance isn't sold on the idea. Suggestions?

  • hrm...if you're looking for something specifically pagan, you could try "World's Wedding" by Emerald Rose...

  •  We have our harpist playing a whole set of nontraditional songs for our ceremony.
I will be walking down the aisle to "All I want is you" by U2.

My suggestion would be to find a song that means something to the both of you. =)

and let us know what you guys go with! I love little nontraditional twists.
  • One of my and my fiance's favorite movies is "Love Actually," and there's an instrumental song in it called Glasgow Love Theme that is very pretty that I'm walking down to.  For some reason I think walking down the aisle to the Wedding March would give me too much anxiety!
  • We are shying away from the traditional Wedding March as well.  My fiance and I both dislike the way the Wedding March sounds, especially we played on the organ.  He is a huge Star Wars fan and has been itching to incorporate anything Star Wars in our wedding.  I have decided to surprise him by walking down the aisle to "Across the Stars" by John Williams.  It is the love theme for Anikin and Padmae and is played during their wedding scene in Episode II.  I'm sure that he will love it!  I suggest picking a song that has special meaning to the both of you.  You should love the song that you are walking down the aisle to because it is a magical moment.  Good luck to you...Smile
