Did you provide food for....

I will have two photographers, day of coordinator and DJ that I would like to provide food for.  The problem is that our food may not be ready ready when I would like them to eat.  Did you provide food for your photographers?DJ?etc?  I am thinking ordering something from like Jason's Deli for them.  Thoughts?

Yes, there was food provided for them.

We just let them eat from the buffet quickly.. while everyone else was eating... since I didn't care to have pics of people with food in their mouth and the DJ could just have something playing. It worked out well.

I would only order food for them if they will be with you all day. Like your photographer and doc will probably be with you all day and not have time to go pick something up but your DJ will only be there for 4 hours or so...he/she can pick something up easily before they come.

My photographers and DJ ate from the buffet and I had lunch in my suite for my MUA that I ordered from the hotel.  I was going to do Jason's though before I found out the hotel would do it for me.

It was offered but all of them said they preferred to do their own thing when we met with them during the initial meetings.  I have no idea if they ended up eating from our buffet or not.

I would still order something for the DJ even if he's not going to be with the whole day.  He still has to set up and then play for at least 2-3 hours and then after the wedding pack up his stuff.  The least you can do would be to let him have some food to eat.  You never know where he came from earlier in the day or if he had time to grab a bite to eat before your wedding.

The only people I had to order food for was the band because it was stated in the contract since they were playing while people were eating.  I ordered their food from the country club we had the reception at.  The photographer ate from the buffett.

Some venues provide a "vendor meal" that's a sort of box lunch that's cheaper than adding them to your plated dinner headcount. Ask your coordinator or caterer for options in feeding your vendors. I agree with Mariah-- the  DJ is there during the dinner hour, so he/she should get food.

I plan on providing food for our photographer.  She is going to be there for 8 hours.  I don't think anyone could last that long without eating something.  We are using our ipod so he don't have to worry about the dj.  My friend is our doc so of course we have food for her as well.

good ideas everyone!  I know I'll feed them I just didn't know whether off of our buffet or just order food.  Definitely ordering in from Jason's for the bridal party and will have it for my MUA, but I think I may go on ahead and order some for the photographers, coordinator and DJ so they will have that instead of worrying if they need to bring food.  At my venue it works perfectly that I can use one of the turrets by the DJ area and put in a table with chairs for them to have as their area to put personal stuff and eat.  Thank you so much ladies!

Our DOC and our DJ and videographer all told us not to provide food for them.  They felt it was unprofessional for them to eat at a wedding where they were working.  Our photographer, however, asked us to provide a meal for her.  So, maybe check with your vendors to see what they prefer?

See, I don't understand this.  Am I paying the DJ and photographer to work or eat?  Shouldn't they be working during the entire reception?  I'm looking at paying a DJ between $1500 to $2500 for four hours AND I have to spend $48.50 for his food and another $48.50 for his assistant?  And I'm probably going to give him a tip.

Do I give them a table with my guests or in the back?

    I'm sorry - that doesn't make sense.

I took really good care of all my vendors.  They ate from the buffet.  I didn't even think of giving them a sandwich when everyone else was eating buffet.  I saw that as rude and ilmannered.   Anyway, our venue told us they prepare 5% over anyway.  We didn't include them in the count.  As it was, several guests we did include didn't show anyway.  So it all worked out at no extra expense to us, but we came out looking good.

So I guess it all depends.
How much do you want them to go out of their way and do something extra for you?
The way I saw it, it goes both ways.
