Has anyone booked their wedding at a country club in Pittsburgh?

Hi,

I am a bride-to-be in April 2013 and am desperately looking for the right country club. My fiance and I are in NYC at the time but will be back in Pittsburgh in April this year to look at a few places. Does anyone has feedback about the country clubs in Pittsburgh? Specifically these country clubs: Oakmont, Nevillewood, Edgewood and Longvue.

Please let me know. Any feedback is appreciated, good or bad!

Thanks,
Frankie

  • For Oakmont you will need a sponsor.  Their reception area is beautiful, has a Tuscany type of feel.  The golf course is also great for pictures.  Very strict rules to follow to preserve the integrity of the club.

    Good luck!
  • I am having my wedding at the Pittsburgh Golf Club, it's sorta a country club.  Near Schenley.  I love it, right on a golf course, really elegant space.

I don't know anything about the rest of those, sorry!
  • We are having our reception at Edgewood Country Club in June. This was my favorite venue when we were looking. The ballroom is very open and has a large covered outdoor balcony off it it which can be used throughout the reception. There are also three large rooms to be used for cocktail hour. Let me know if you have any other questions!

  • I'm having my ceremony and reception at Longue Vue Club this July.  They have been WONDERFUL to work with so far.  They will work with your budget and you can be sponsored by the manager if you sign a contract and pay upfront.  I would highly recommend it!  It is beautiful!!!!  Good luck Laughing
  • My fiance and I are getting married at Edgewood Country Club in October. They are fantastic. You can do your ceremony there outside, they have a "back up" room a dressing room, a lounge type area and bar for cocktail hour etc. Also, your package there will include DJ, cake, and valet. eccgolf.com. My friends just got married at Longvue, and while gorgeous, it's a hike to get to.
  • IWe are having our wedding at Longue Vue in June. I was blown away by the old fashioned/historic venue and beautiful grounds. I visited and booked in the winter and it was still gorgeous. It was recommended to me by a co-worker. All of her guests,  that I also worked with, loved it. I've heard excellent things about the food and after having our tasting, I couldn't agree more. We're also having our ceremony there (no extra cost) and I couldn't be more excited. It's very reasonable and fit into our budget. The only draw back is that you will most likely need to provide trasnportation for your guests since it's at least 15 minutes from any nearby hotel. but it's do able.

  • We are getting married at the Pittsburgh Field Club in Fox Chapel.  It's a beautiful private club about 15 minutes from the city.  Since it's private, you will need a club member to sponsor your wedding.  My family has membership, so I'm not sure about the details. My fiance and I live in Breckenridge, Colorado, but I'm coming back home to Fox Chapel and the PFC to get hitched.  We are going to have an outdoor ceremony on the terrace, reception in the historic Clubhouse and after party at the bar/ pool house.  It's the perfect setting for a classy event, in "the country".  There is also the Fox Chapel Golf Club, another private club, also located in Fox Chapel.  They both have strict membership rules and regulations, but if you belong to a private country club in your area, I think it's a little easier to get in. Good luck planning!
