Large venue on water in South Brevard

Hi all! I just got engaged last weekend on vacation in Chicago and am ecstatic! Of course I bought my first bridal magazine in the airport on the way home so the planning pretty much began right away. I have many friends getting married late summer/early fall of next year so I've decided to push mine to mid-November.

I was born and raised in Indialantic, FL and my fiance was born and raised in Melbourne Beach so obviously, we would love to get married in the south Brevard area. My worry is I'm picky and have a HUGE family! My guess at this point is I'll need a venue that can hold 250 and possibly up to 300 AND it must be on the water (river or ocean).

My parents live on the Indian River and have a very large yard, however, they would feel obligated to make the yard perfect (Dad is getting older, don't want him to strain) and if it rains, their house is not large enough to fit that many people inside. I would worry about a soggy yard even with a tent.

The reception venue is the one of two things I'm willing to splurge on. The other being flowers. Does anyone have any suggestions? Renting a large nice home on the water is an option as long as there isn't too much prep work required. But don't know where to start looking for that. And the Eau Gallie Yacht Club is out because my brother got married there. Though I highly recommend it for others!

Thanks in advance!

There really aren't a lot of places in Brevard that can hold that many. Are you flexible on going north or south? Why not have the ceremony on the water and reception elsewhere?

Someone else asked about Brevard venues recently and I was trying to think of some places near my house. But I don't know how many they hold.

I think a house will be out because there isn't a house I can think of that would hold 300 in case of rain.

Hilton Rialto landside in Melbourne (we had a work event here and it was really nice)
    Hilton Beachside
    Radisson Beachside
Crowne Plaza Beachside (there's a lot of hotels over there, maybe even Doubletree too?)
Radisson at the Port in Port Canaveral
    Viera Golf Club
La Cita Golf Club in Titusville
    Brevard Zoo
    Space Coast Convention Center
    Milliken's at the Port
Chart House (may not hold that many)
The Courtyard at the Oaks (not on the water, but very fun and nice)
The Mansion in Melbourne-not open but there was an article in the paper saying they were opening soon)
Indian River Queen boat in Cocoa (holds like 250 not 300)
McKee Garden in Vero (has water there? very nice)

Thank you! I do think I'm going to have to broaden my search to Vero Beach if I want to have the reception on the water. A friend has recommended some very nice places there. But I am curious what the Mansion is going to turn out like! From my memory, the whole restaurant indoor and outdoor could possibly work if it's still similar. I'm also going to look at River Rocks restaurant.

We are getting married in a church but our first choice is Eastminster on the river since that is where I grew up attending. So I guess I shouldn't be so picky with such a great church location!!

    Thanks again!

Do you have any military family? I'm not sure the exact count but I'm pretty sure the Tides (NCO club) holds a large amount. I've attended two weddings there - one in the upstairs area and I think there were about 80-100 (very comfortable and nice) and the other was in their main dining room area. The large, downstairs, dining area is wonderful. The one I attended did the ceremony on the deck (hard to hear anything with the waves crashing) and the reception inside - it was SO gorgeous...truly beautiful.  Just a thought. You would just need someone with the access to book the room but with you and your fiance both growing up in the area, hopefully you have a few military contacts :)
We are going with the Hilton Cocoa Beach using their small (budget) room. Their grand ballroom will easily hold your number though (they just hosted the military ball a few weeks ago). The coordinator there, Janice Romano, is awesome!

    Good luck!
