  LOL.  I always think it's funny the things fundies do.  They live in their own reality.  To each his own, I guess.

  It's not just a Southern Christian thing, or something fundies thing. It is a total christian thing. I've had a few friends actual do this. It's a christian courting practice that takes the physical aspect out of a relationship out until the union of marriage. It makes you really get to the person on an emotional level. You spend more time with friends, family, and church. My friends that have done it say it was the best choice in the world for them and it brought them together in a more deeper and committed way then they ever could have.

  Sorry the Christian in the group got a little offended, but I just thought I would fully explain what they were doing.

  I understood what they were doing fully and I wasn't trying to be offensive. In fact, the only thing I said is that I thought it took a lot of dedication and that rather, I admired it. It's kind of sweet. I'm a very open minded - and pretty educated person - when it comes to other peoples beliefs, and I respect them all. And also, I realize it's not just a 'Southern Christian' thing - I was talking about one individual couple I had seen on the show. I'm aware it's a practice embraced by individuals of varying beliefs and sects.

  I didn't mean to offend either.  I grew up in the church and do understand the reasoning behind it, and I also find it sweet in its own way.  I guess I just am in the mindset that there are other ways to develop a deep and meaningful relationship.  I find that many of the couples I know who have chosen do so feel that somehow they are "sinning" if they have physical contact, be it kissing, holding hands, etc.  I feel that that notion turns something beautiful and natural into something sinful/prohibited.  Just as I respect their point of view, they should also acknowledge that there are other ways that are just as valid.

  Again, to each his own.  Sorry if my comment was offensive.

  I've seen something similar...a couple waiting until their wedding day to have their 1st kiss.
  I felt a little bad for the couple as sometimes the first time you kiss someone ... it can be a private moment -  they had it flimed and on north american tv (The Learning channel)
