Wedding Confessional Booth Monday!

Confession time....spill it!

Re: Wedding Confessional Booth Monday!

  • We started on our invite list and I am dreading a particular guest. This person is pretty much a snob and treats people very nicely infront of their faces but behind their back it's a different story. Can't uninvite her because she is the SO of one of the groomsmen.

  • Heres my confession -

I didnt invite a BUNCH of friends from college. A whole group that knows each other but not my OTHER friends. I told them we had just a little family wedding, and so I had to be cautious on facebook to not allow them to see pictures from the wedding or they would have gotten mad! I dont regret it though, because even though we were all good friends, most of them are snobby bitches (kind of like the person Daisy is talking about above) and I simply didnt want them there knocking everyone and everything!
  • I might have to send out our B-List soon because we just found out that my MIL invited 50 people that are definitely not coming. So now I can send out the B- list invites but have to lie to 2 people at work that some of the invites were held up.....Why give us 50 people you definitely know are not coming!!! We told her we needed to book a special room if there was a chance for extra people so we booked the bigger room because of her.
  • Wow thats annoying catsal!

Ughhhh so i was basically set on having the wedding at a park pavillion i had it all pictured in my mind how everything would look. But now my FI went with his parents to dinner at The Sundy House (they did it on purpose to show him look at this lovely place wouldnt you want it here?! kinda thing) And they were even speaking to the manager (they know him) about having a wedding there. And of course it worked, and my Fi was like its really great we should think about it.  Its just so expensive! I would love to have it there i just dont think its possible on our budget and so then FI was saying lets increase the budget. Ahhhh!!!

Glad to know I'm not the only one who is having issues with this. It sucks I can't uninvite her. I guess I'll try to avoid her as much as I can when the wedding finally comes around but I highly doubt avoiding her will work. Crossing my fingers! I can't stand for the fakeness!

I love the Sundy House and is it really that much more expensive? I mean, it's not such a big place unless catering is super expensive?

  • Yeah the cheapest package is 100 per person. We said our guestlist would be around 30. thats 3000! And thats just for venue, catering, drinks and cake. Our budget is meant to be 4k. Which leaves 1k for flowers, photographer, music etc!

I mean the manager spoke about it being cheaper off season and with knowing the manager we may be able to get it a little cheaper. but i guess we just have to go into more discussion with the guy to see what can be done. I just really had settled on the idea of the pavilion.

Is your wedding date during the off-season? I hope so and hopefully it will be a lot cheaper during that time. I can relate to you about trying to stay within budget. Our original guest list was 120 guests and FI and I got so stressed about it and cut more than half of the list. We had about 57 guests in total and we were so happy with it. Until his parents stepped in and over dinner told us they needed to invite more people for xy reason. They had legitmate reasons and they told us not worry about catering because they would cover it.  It's the most costly thing about a wedding and if they didn't at least offer to help us with it and ontop of adding more people to our list then we weren't going more than the 57 guests we agreed on.

Any word if your future in-laws will help to chip in some?
  • Well we dont have a date yet because were waiting for visa approval before we set it, but, weve estimated it might be in May. I dont know, when do the snow birds leave? If its after then i guess we could wait a month more.

Yeah the inlaws more certainly would be able to chip in (given they spend 100k on their other childs wedding) But we really were wanting to do this on own own and prove we are able to do so you know?

Im getting my FI to email the manager so see how we can cut the costs some how, like cutting down the menu, swapping the fancy cocktails and champagne for beer and wine, stuff like that.

  • Truly, I don't know when the snow birds (it cracked me up you referred them that way) but to me it hardly ever leave. My best guess would be the months of March, April and May to be the low season months.

One way to keep it budget friendly is having a nice brunch. I love brunch wedding...they are super quint and cute! I'm not a morning person so I couldn't do it but I do love brunch so much.

Also, if you are looking for a nice yet affordable photographer then I would suggest checking out the post I posted this past Monday :)
  • Well if your guess of months is right thats totally perfect! Yeah i looove brunch, I would totally want it to be brunch.

And yep! I added some of those photographers to my list! But also my FI has an acquaintance who said he would do 500 plus travel (from texas) I mean thats a good deal right?!

It does seem like a great deal you just need to see what the travel fee would consist of (plane ticket and hotel room or plane ticket alone or car rental). Sometimes, bringing in someone from afar ends up being the same prices as local vendors if not more. I would suggest to ask him what his travel fee will consist of.
