Rainbow Wedding

We are having a rainbow wedding and I am starting to think about flowers. Does anyone know a flower that comes in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple? Each bridesmaid is a different color and I will be in red. I would like our flowers to be similar, though I understand that I might not find what I am looking for.

Thanks for any ideas :)

Red, orange, yellow, and purple are no problem at all, but you have limited choices for blue and green flowers.

I've seen carnations in all those colors except for blue.  You can always have them dyed blue.  The yellow carnations ones are usually a light, lemony color, and the green ones are usually the color of honeydew melon.

Just a suggestion....  The dresses will be pretty colorful on their own, and flowers of the same color would just blend in with the dress, or might possibly be off in the shade and might clash a little.

Have you considered using a uniform variety of white flower for the BM bouquets, but different varieties of colored accent or filler flowers?  Or different colored ribbons around the stems?

The only blue flower I can think of right now is lysanthus or hydrangea.
The few flowers I can think of that come in green are pom poms, carnations, hydrangeas, and roses.
A wide variety of flowers come in red, orange, yellow, and purple.  For accent flowers, I'd suggest spray roses or mini carnations, and for filler, purple or lilac colored statice, or limonium, or yellow solidago.

Thanks so much for your advice. I now have some ideas to bring up when we meet with the florist.

I guess I should have mentioned that the dresses are black with a colored sash. So the flowers would be part of the color.

What about a bouquet with a mix of colors in it for the girls?

Another suggestion is to have all the colors of the flowers you previously mentioned and then have blue ribbon on the bouquet?  That is one way to incorporate the blue into your theme.

I think carnations and daises are your best bet.  You could also ask about roses - they can spray those just about any color also.

    Happy Planning!
