so we just found out that my FH might be charged with a felony...if he looses than the individual pressing charges will be able to sue us...(us after we are married) and if he  looses than its all over...but i dont know what to do...the whole thing is stupid...the other guy is just money hungry and is actually probably going to be sued by workmans comp for fraud on this...but its getting to my tipping point...i dont know if i should postpone or just cancel or what...help

    i would go fins a lawyer ASAP, and discuss what your options are. They would know how to best help you. I would make sure that even if the person tries to sue your Fi, that your money and personal belongings will not be leverage for the person sueing you guys (FI). Sorry, I know nothing about the law, I am assuming this is something with injury in a work setting?

    yeah it was from a horseplay incident between my FH and one of his friends...and well the guy didnt need up being as good a friend as we thought and is trying to get money in anyway possible...he has already lost the first suit...

    If it's a felony, not a misdemeanor, it's more than just horseplay.  (I'm a lawyer, not just guessing.)  Felonies are more serious crimes.  I'd advise you individually to speak with a lawyer about the potential felony, without your FI there.  It sounds to me like there more to the story than he's letting on.  

    Personally, I wouldn't marry someone with pending felony charges.  You are going to have to decide if that's something you are willing to deal with.  A felony means prison (not jail) time.  A felony comes with a lot of issues on the other side, too.  He may not be able to enroll in school, vote, get professional licenses or certificates, and may be unable to get a job at all.  Many large corporations have policies against hiring people with violent felony records.  This is a much bigger deal than a simple misdemeanor.  This is something you'd have to deal with for the rest of your life.

    If you do decide to marry him, the two of you need to speak with a lawyer about the civil suit, and figure out if/how you can protect your assets from that.
