Honeymoon/Travel Agent

Did any of you book your honeymoon through a travel agent?  We are thinking we would like to go somewhere in the caribbean but arent sure where and were wondering if it would be a good idea to go through a travel agent.  Thanks!

Re: Honeymoon/Travel Agent

  • We booked ours thru a TA we found on the boards. We worked entirely thru emails and one phone conversation. She was fantastic, very prompt in getting a response back to us, and good at making suggestions. I will send you a PM with her contact info.

  • I had a friend who book through an agent and she loved him.  She said they got a really good deal, better than going through a resort, so she says.  I haven't started my search yet.  My FI brother got married last year and they went through Secrets and paid $3000 for everything and that was a May Honeymoon. Good Luck! hope this helps

  • We went through a travel agent. We knew we wanted to go to the Caribbean, but we didn't know how to narrow that idea down. Too many awesome options down there! A friend recommended someone at AAA who introduced us to places we hadn't even considered but that were just right for us. Since we didn't know how much a trip like this might cost, he priced out some of the best options for us so we could see what to expect in terms of price range and go from there.

After looking over the materials he gave us, it took us about a week to decide on our destination. He was super helpful for about that period of time. Once we made up our minds though and were ready to book it, it's like he disappeared. Who disappears when you're trying to give them money? I mean, seriously! I was amazed. It literally took two months to book our honeymoon. I was so fed up that I went online and attempted to book it myself through various deal and travel sites, and through the airlines and hotels themselves, but I always came up with a more expensive trip than the one he had priced out for us.

It was a good and bad experience. He really did find us our perfect honeymoon spot - and it was a place that wasn't even on our radar - but I doubt I'll ever plan a trip through AAA again.
  • We went through Crusies Inc. We are going to the Caribbean for our honeymoon and the travel agents there are very knowledgeable of the islands down there.
