Timeline XP

Maybe some of you ladies can help me figure this out.

Our ceremony is at 4pm at the Benachi House. We will do pics just FI and myself at City Park immediately after.
There will be a cocktail hour while we are gone with drinks and apps.
We are planning to enter the reception at 6pm and that is when our brass band (Rebirth!!) will start playing, until 7. We originally were going to close the reception with them, but due to issues others have had with the noise ordinance, changed this. And besides, what better way to get the party started?

My question is, when do we put the rest of the food out? We are doing a catered buffet. I was thinking maybe 630 would be alright. That way, people get to enjoy the band and the ones who are hungry can eat, or if people want to wait til 7, they have that option. The feel of our wedding is pretty laidback, so it doesn't matter that everyone eats at exactly the same time (or at least to me it seems like this doesn't matter). Any ideas??

I think maybe the caterers can put the food out while the band is playing so your guests wont really be paying attention to them and it will be a smooth transition. They will be paying attention to Rebirth. (Maybe if you knew how many songs they were playing or how long they were playing you could let the caterers know and they could work out the loigistics so that the food was out and set up when the band was done)

If people were eating and then the band came out it would be like 'ok i'm eating and now i have to stop to enjoy the band' Too much at once.

Most people don't eat at the same time at weddings anyway, unless it is a sit down dinner.

Yah they will be done playing at 7, so I could let the caterer know to have everything ready by then. I was just worried that might be too late, but if we re having apps beforehand, I guess it should be ok?

I thin it will be because If the ceremony is at 4 it will run until 4:30?  By the time you leave the venue
    cocktail hour 5-6

    Rebirth 6-7

    Food/dancing 7-10

I think an hour on appetizers is good besides they wil be having fun with the band. As long at things don't run behind.

I think that would work.  I like the idea that people would be paying attention to the band.  The whole set-up process would be less noticable.
