church fees

I called my church to see what the church fee is for weddings.  I thought it might just be a donation.... Well they called me back and told me $300 is the offertory.  They didn't say there was a pastoral fee as well, but I am assuming there is and it would be about $150.  Does anyone else feel like this is a little steep or am I just uninformed??

    In total (offering, cantor fee, organ fee etc) its $750 for my church, and that is because I am an active member! If I wasn't active it would $100 more, and if I wasn't a member it would be $250 more.

    Unfortunately, it probably isn't as steep as you think.  Some of the Catholic churches in my area are $600 + depending on your status at that church.  $300 seems rather reasonable.

    My sister married a non-Catholic and they were required to donate over $700 (I think...It could have been $650). FI and I are both Catholic, so the same priest told us to "think about what we are spending on the wedding when we give our donation." 

    We will probably give equal or more than my sister and her DH gave. We've budgeted for $800, but FI feels it would be nice to give a bit more.

    Yeah, that's not a bad fee.

    I'm paying $650 total.  That's for the space, the officiant and the security fee.

    I payed $300 to use the church, $150 for the Pastor and another $150 for the organist. 
    I've had many friends marry in Catholic churches and they've been asked for a donation - and only donated $100 total! 
    We thought it was expensive too, but looked into having our ceremony at our reception venue - that would have cost us $350 there.
