Unique Budget Reception Site

Hey all!

I'm posting asking for help brainstorming some unique reception sites. My fiance and I are going to an expo at the Grounds for Sculpture tomorrow, but we're not crazy about the looks of the building and the space. I like the space personally, it's like a NYC loft with huge windows looking out onto the beautiful grounds, but the building is brick and sort of resembles a college gym. My fiance is not so crazy about the exposed duct-work in the ceiling. However, the thing we LOVE about it is that the Grounds For Sculpture is one of the most truly unique places in NJ, and we want to share that with our guests. We thought it would be really interesting and different to have them walk around the grounds while we did our photography. Especially since that way, we don't have to miss our cocktail hour!
The issue we may run into is that it's a bit pricey, not as bad as the beautiful restaurant on the grounds: Rat's. They quoted us at $230/head! It DOES include open bar, all the food, the cake, and their own events coordinator for the day, and we wouldn't have to rent any tables, dinnerware, linens, etc. Also, we wouldn't pay a corking fee since it's their own bar. But it's still verrrrrry high!

So I'm asking for your advice! We live in New Brunswick, but are getting married in the church on Nassau Street in Princeton. Can you make any suggestions of really interesting places for a small wedding (tops 70 people) within a comfortable driving distance?

Thanks for all the help in advance guys! :)

    Lambertville or New Hope?

I've been looking online, but I think for those two awesome little towns I will have to just drive through one day because a lot of cool restaurants will do weddings, but wouldn't come up as a wedding reception site on an online search, but thanks for the suggestion!

Have you tried Princeton Battlefield? Terhune? Nassau Inn? Mountain lakes House? Pretty Brook Farm? Manor House?

Lambertville Station Inn does weddings. It has a great view, but it is kind of traditional. I believe the price for them is $90 for filet mignon.  Center Bridge Inn is in New Hope, it over looks the water too.  I actually live in Lambertville, so if you are coming this way let me know.  :)

Triumph Brewing Company. There was just a spread in the Princeton Packet or US 1 or Town Topics about their weddings. The space is very modern, they have good food, the beer is fantastic, and you get the whole place to yourself.
For pictures you could walk through town, on Nassau St., the University, or go to Princeton Battlefield or the Greenway Preserve on Rosedale Rd.
