  Not a chance.  I probably would have cancelled the appointment in the first place if my mom was sick, but if she missed it, she missed it.  She's an adult.

  Any chance she's kidding?  Just act like she is and maybe she'll realize how silly her request is, assuming she really does want you to do that.

  My mom's out of state and couldn't go, I just took a ton of pictures and showed them to her after.  I never would have agreed to go fake-shopping with her afterward, I would have felt ridiculous.
  
  Perhaps she could go with you when the dress comes in?  Then you can try it on in the dress shop with her at least.

  Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married.   I've been the MOB and that just sounds silly to me.  Trying on dresses is not a stage production that you put on night after night.  I'm sorry your mom missed it, but the party's over on dress buying.  That's just not a moment that you can "recreate".
  
  Offer to go dress shopping with her for her MOB dress instead.

  I don't know about bad luck, but it's sort of silly I think. Def have her go with you for the fitting. Have her do the other stuff with you, like shoes, veil, etc if you don't have that already.

  I know with my mom, she wouldn't be there because she is the type that put work first. My MOH is more excited about me finding my dress than my mom is right now.. It doesn't help that we don't have the same taste either..

  I wouldve canceled the appointment in the first place. i wouldnt want to waste the bridal shops time though by just trying on dresses. and i doubt they would let you
