Martha's Vineyard Wedding - Sultans of Swing or Mike Benjamin Band?

Hi!
I am new to the knot and just got engaged...believe it or not, we are planning
a wedding either July 31 (a Sunday) OR September 4th (Sunday of labor day weekend)...so I have a LOT to do!  We're very seriously considering Atria of Edgartown for our reception because you can actually have music until 11:30 pm - very unusual it seems for MV!  I'm trying to choose between the Mike Benjamin Band and the Sultans of Swing...SOS seem to have a wider repertoire - from 80's to oldies and are perhaps a bit more upbeat? But Mike seems really great to work with and has been wonderful with replies - plus he played for Clinton's 60th!  Anyway, just wondering if anyone has used either band and what your experience was...

    love the sultans of swing... warning about labor day weekend though...The travel , pricing and crowds can be hellish...I would definately rethink that date unless you can make reservations for nearly everybody and go very exclusive... 

    But s a semi local that travels to the vineyard regulary I wouldn't touch it on labor day weekend.

    Mike Benjamin Band is amazing! They rock the house, will have everyone dancing to a great variety of music! I have never seen a band that impressed me so much...especially at a wedding!  They played a wedding at the East Chop in September, everyone had a great time!

    I am pretty sure Mike lives right on the Vineyard too.

    another vote for Mike Benjamin!! He played my grandparent's wedding anniversary (we have a house in the Vineyard) and it was amazing! He is such a nice guy too.

    I've heard great things about Mike Benjamin Band...we didn't end up using them for our wedding, because we already had something else lined up, but I don't think you could go wrong with them! :) GL

    You have good taste. We used Mike Benjamin for our rehearsal dinner, and The Sultans of Swing for our wedding. Both GREAT. Can't go wrong.

    But heads-up: I think at Atria you may have to keep the music quiet--even unplugged except for the vocals. If you're outside especially.

    If that's the case, that may change which band is a better fit for you.

    Congrats!  I have attended weddings with both. If I had to pick one... Mike Benjamin.

    Thank you everyone!  We decided on Sultans of Swing but it was a tough decision...Mike Benjamin was such a doll, probably easier to work with but I think Sultans does more 80's rock and pop which is what I love!   I'm trying to see if we can book Mike for the rehearsal dinner.
