how far in advance should you start interviewing/going to consults with florists? my wedding is next may and my mom keeps insisting that its still very soon and that florists can take on several events at once but some friends of mine are making me nervous telling me i should go now! what do you guys think about this?

    My wedding is this December and I have yet to begin this process.  However, like pps said, since your wedding is in May, a popular wedding and prom month, you might want to think about checking them out now and locking in who you like just to be safe.

    I didn't book a florist until early June for my August 22 wedding.  I did a consultation with 3 florists who were all available on my date.  If you are going with a florist like Mum's the Word, I would recommend getting that booked ASAP.  If you are looking at other area florists, you still have plenty of time to find someone who understands and can execute your vision.  GL!

    I went in September 08 for my May 09 wedding. I met with three florists, all still available on my date, which was Mother's Day weekend (a weekend when most florists will only take one one wedding). I think you have some time - there are tons of great, affordable florists in this area. But agree with pp that earlier is always better when it comes to wedding planning. So, if you have some free time and an idea of who/what you want, why not start meeting with them now? Only a very small deposit (mine was $50) would be required to hold your date, if you found a florist you loved. Good Luck!

    Remmebr that Mother's Day is in May.. So you might want to be safe and book early.  My best friend got married in May and had trouble finding a florist because of Mothers day..

    I booked April 08 for our May 09 wedding.  I put down a small deposit and was thrilled to not have that to worry about.  Why not do it early, so you can check that off your list?
