Alterations and Florist - How much is reasonable?

My dress came in on Friday so I'm going to the boutique I purchased from to get a price quote on alterations. The dress fits perfect so all I'll need is it hemmed about 3 -4 inches. Do any of you know what a reasonable price should be?

ALSO, flowers. I don't like them but I know it will add to the decor. I've seen various posts on vendors but is it realistic for me to expect to pay no more than $1,000 on flowers (preferably less lol)? I'd like to get bridal/BMs bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces and maybe pomander balls for the aisles.

TIA!

To take my dress in maybe an inch, and do bustle was about 150. Becky Fowler is extremely reasonable. <div>
</div><div>I paid 1,600 for flowers. Mine, 3 BMs, 12 bouts, 7 corsages, 12 centerpeices and cake flowers. </div><div>My florist was going to charge me either 40 or 50 for a pomander ball for the FG. </div><div>Depending on how many aisles you have you could probably DIY it.
I DIY'd the balls at the end of my aisles! (See sig)</div>

  • I think that is doable if you're not picky about types of flowers. Focus more on your colors and the feel (formal or informal), and your money will go a lot further.
Can't help with alterations (yet). My appointment is next weekend.

If you don't select expensive "unique" flowers you might just make that budget. Not sure about the aisle flowers though. And you'll have to do really simple table flowers.

You'll need to find a florist to fit that budget. I know some people have used Central Market or Whole Foods for reasonable prices. You just have to pick up the flowers/arrangements.

This. I am using the one on Preston and Royal. It is fairly new so they have a lot of openings for weddings. They are going to cost WAYYYY less than what a florist (who is a friend) quoted me. (around 600 for a wedding party of 10, house party, and reception).

I spent a little over what you're saying is your limit ($1100) and I got a huge bouquet for me, my MOH's bouquet, 4 wrist corsages, 7 bouts (I think...), 2 altar arrangements (gladiola stalks) and 10 centerpiece arrangements.  I bought my own glassware at Garden Ridge and that helped cut down on the cost of the altar arrangements and the centerpieces.  Our centerpieces were gerbera daisies, tulips and a few roses ($25 each through Market Street).  I was very happy working with Market Street (the one in Colleyville is close to where I work) and I feel I got a great deal.  Oh, my total included a fee for delivery (about $100).
  • So if i were to use Central Market they do it all for me I just pick them up? My DIY skills do not extend to floral arrangements lol

crash - i've heard great things about Becky on here so if they quote me an outrageous amount i plan on using her!
  • I would highly recommend Becky for your alterations.  You won't find anyone cheaper.

    Yea I'd appreciate that! Thanks
  • I know a lady that is AWESOME at making custom designs and very reasonable! I got my whole (fake flowers) floral package for like $275 (with shipping... no bridesmaids or groomsmen. But I did have 12 kissing balls made, bridal bouquet, toss bouquet, grooms/3 fathers boots, 3 grandmas corsages, 2 moms corsages, etc). VERY REASONABLE PRICES! Here is a pic of my kissing ball that matches everything else (I was very specific with roses, colors, handle size and color, feathers, bling pins, etc). This lady is awesome, if you have a vision...she can create it! Kissing balls were $15 each without shipping (whole shipping costs were $30 for entire package)!

Email me at Michellerawkz@yahoo.com for her info! All I ask is you please tell her I referred you to her!

  • I am going with Sam's club for flowers after getting a quote from central market. Sam's club is better priced and actually has much better flowers! They deliver the flowers right to your door also, where as central market charges a delivery fee for that.
