Re: Photographer and Florist needd please!

  • I like in Lake Orion (my wedding was in Rochester) but I went all the way down to Wyandotte for my Florist. Silk Thumb Florist (even though their name says "silk" - I got real flowers). WONDERFUL to work with. They worked with me and my budget.

For example: Centerpieces I liked were $75 (they were large). The medium version was $35 and the small version was $15. They suggested the idea that I get a little of each (different heights and whatnot around the reception, so it doesn't look the same all around) and it turned out fabulous! There were some tables I wanted to "impress" (not really, but I wanted to give them the biggest/the best centerpiece) and some tables (i.e. kids table, and drunk college friends) I would prefer to have a smaller centerpiece if I knew they wouldn't be at the table much to enjoy it (or break it).

Even though I drove all the way down there, I never had to go back (which was good). We communicated through phone, and they were there, at my reception, setting up at the exact time I asked them to be there. It was great!

  • I don't have any recommendations for a photographer because ours does this as a hobby and doesn't offer his services.

However, I know some brides have raved about some local florists.

If you have a membership at Costco, I got all my flowers from them. The bouquets/bouts/corsages were their 20 piece white rose wedding package, which is $399. They have other colors, and other types of flowers in various sizes from 9 pieces to 40 pieces.

I made our centerpieces from bulk flowers I ordered from the florist who arranges the flowers for their kiosk at the Roseville store. All the Costco stores have local florists who can order in bulk from Costco's supply, you just have to get their number from the Costco customer service desk.

I ordered 80 stems of white asiatic lillies and 96 white vendella roses, as well as 2 large bunches of baby's breath and it was $173. I made 5 taller centerpieces and 5 shorter ones, pics below.

White lillies, grass that came with them and baby's breath

Shorter arrangements with white roses and baby's breath.

I know that Sam's Club sells bulk flowers and wedding packages as well. Not sure if they have a similar deal to Costco where they have a florist doing the bouquets for their kiosks, but if you have a Sam's membership you could check.
  • Photographer - Amanda Williams!!!

I'm using Christopher & Co as my florist and they seem pretty awesome and will work with your budget.

  • Don't have a good rec for a photog, as mine is out of your budget.

For florist, I recommend Michele Nonis. I had 20 centerpieces (a couple different styles), 6 BM bouqets, 1 bridal bouquet, 1 FG kissing ball, 8 bouts, and a couple extra corsages and bouts for parents and g-parents for about $1,400. She was great to work with and reasonably priced.

  • I would highly recommend www.traceylynnphotography.com for photography. I used her for my engagement pictures and she did a great job! She is also doing my wedding and I am really looking forward to seeing the pictures after! I'm using Weber's in Livonia for flowers. So far he has been really helpful and decently priced. Hope this helps :)

I second Pure Amour and Linneaea Floral Designs!!  We are using both and have been very pleased so far
  • For photographer's Isabella with Art Light Photography or A Pair of Photographers does amazing work.  Her prices on the website were a bit high, but she was willing to work with us and we got 2 photographers for around $1800 all day.

For florists, Ken Baron Flowers in Dearborn is great.  Sue has been doing this for a while and she goes above and beyond to take care of you.  I sent my friend to her and her comment was something like: Sue helps you to actually visualize how it will turn out.
  • I will definitley look into  Pure Amour and Linneaea Floral Designs with all the comments thats left for her! Thank you. And the photographers-ill be checking into those suggestions ladies, thank you! Everyone has been very helpful :)
