*** 2d Bride ** Ketubah Questions

I saw this really beautiful ketubah ... http://www.stylemepretty.com/2010/12/02/fourth-of-july-wedding-from-don-mears-photography/

From what I can see, very little of it is written in Hebrew, which makes me think there may be a way to incorporate something similar into our wedding. Thoughts? More importantly, what would you suggest is a good resource for learning more about the history and modern significance of the ketubah?

I'm Catholic (practising) as is my FI (lapsed) and am all about the importance of making ours a ceremony which is infused with our Judeo-Christian heritage.

You might want to check out this page from Modern Ketubah. The traditional Aramaic wording clearly does not work for a nonJewish couple. However, if you want to have an artistic document that expresses your covenant with each other, that is certainly possible. Many ketubah artists have English-only texts that could work. Or you could look at Quaker marriage certificates. Those are traditionally entirely in English, and are signed by all the witnesses at a Quaker marriage ceremony.

Thank you! BTW, did you see the post with our ceremony music choices?? We're moving along, slowy but surely. Dance lessons are on the horizon ...

Butting in-- I LOVED our dance lessons! We are both children of the 60/70's, when dancing was "wrap your arms around each other & sway" also known as the "8th grade shuffle"!! It was so nice to learn steps, and twirls and to feel like we were actually dancing.

We haven't danced since, but during the time we were learning, it was so fun! Enjoy. ~Donna

Posted by Lisa50[/QUOTE]I just found it. It looks like you're using several of the same pieces we used. If you're looking for pieces to fill in where you're currently undecided, you might want to look at our ceremony music page.

Once again ... great minds. Thanks, babe! I will definitely take a look at that page.

FI is not at all a classical music aficionado, so it was a wee bit painful to help him pinpoint what he liked/did not like about certain pieces. Whew! But, by mid-afternoon, we'd made great progress.

I meet with the quartet director next Friday. I think I'm most excited about the duet she and my son will play. Mini-concert at the wedding. *\o/*
