Stuff you never cared about before, part deux

I know this was a topic a few weeks ago when a fellow bride was worrying about beautiful blue glasses (did you ever decide to buy them after all??). Anyway, today I've hit my, "I can't believe I even care about this or care enough to research it" moment with table linens! Our venue doesn't have nice linens so I've always known I was going to need to get some basic table cloths.....I'm not spending the money for chair covers! To rent, they will be like $10-12 for really basic off-white clothes. I have found another bride selling her nicer ivory pintuck ones for a little more than I will be renting standard ones for, and I was like, oooh maybe I should just buy them! I could theoretically sell them afterwards.
Then I started researching table sizes. Our venue has 60" & 72". I don't think we will do 72" unless everyone is coming and we need to seat 10-12 per table. In that case, though a 120" tablecloth will only go 3/4 to the ground, which I still don't think would look bad.

(Forehead slap)....seriously who have I become that cares about darn tablecloths so much?!?!

  • I hear you. At one point when I was considering buying table cloths I asked the event manager at my venue to measure all the various tables that will be at the reception so all my table cloths are floor length.

  • LOL! This is yet another "Sh*t brides say" moment!

I went through the same ridiculousness with envelopes LOL! I can now tell you every size envelope that's out ther and can tell you the difference between White, Ivory, Superfine White, Natural White, Natural Ivory...... LOL

  • Hahaha totally can relate to this! When I was first engaged I analyzed every single aspect to everything....then I started asking MOH if she could tell the difference between choices and she looked at me like I was crazy :)

  • LOL I have had a few things that I catch myself and say, "Really Katie...who else is going to notice" or "what am I doing?" So funny.

  • Earrings. I never even thought about it before. But I just tried on my dress with the bolero jacket I ordered and felt that something was missing. The hunt began, and now i can't make up my mind! It's driving me nuts. I know I want something substantial because I'm not wearing a necklace, and emerald to mimic my e-ring. Any opinions?

  • Add me to the list!!! We had decided to not do a seating arrangement since our food was buffet style, a lot of people will just go sit wherever. Now I'm worrying about it. AND worried about getting my FG dress in time, about FSIL's dress coming and FSIL remembering to go pick it up because she's irresponsible, Where to do our outdoor photos on the day of if it rains..

Plus, the envelope issue... They're all white to me, haha, but now I wish I had something a little darker....

Mine is invites. I still have yet to order because I really want penguins because it goes with the theme, but because we couldnt find exactly what we want we started to look at other option unrelated to the wedding theme but we really like them (almost makes us want to change the theme a little lol).
    fireflies in the mason jars:
    and this carved tree one:

neither go with the red white and black penguin theme, and nobody will remember what the invites look like compared to the wedding but I will not order invites because Im worried someone might notice that the invite doesnt go with the theme... but I need to order within the next couple of weeks because I am going to get them printed by VP and my groupon expires at the end of next month. lol

I like both, but if your wedding is going to be red, black and white, I would probably go with the tree one because it doesn't introduce navy. But you are right, most people don't bring their invites, and if they do, for the address, then they are left in the car! :)

That was me...and No, I have not bought them yet. I really wanted them and look at them every once in a while to make sure they're still available but I've decided to focus on other things for now and get back to it later...it doesn't take long to ship them so if they are still around at the end of July/early August when I have a better picture of the size of my guest list, then i'll consider it again.

Good luck with your linens! I think i'm going to rent my chaircovers from www.dressmychair.com (standard banquet cover $2/ea) because I really don't want to worry about cleaning them. But I will be buying my pintuck tablecloths because I don't mind packing 15 tablecloths...better than 150 chaircovers...plus I think it's easier to resell tablecloths. Good luck!

That is a good point with being able to buy them later.

Thanks! I wouldn't mind buying the tabelcloths, especially if they are second hand in good condition, but similarily I worry about the guest count. If everyone comes, I will be hurrying to find an extra tablecloth & centerpiece, because we will have to use the 60" tables. I also worry about dealing with keeping them un-wrinkly. At least the pintuck shouldn't show as much, but I don't own a steamer.
