July 2012 Weddings

Help!! What would you do!?!?!

Back to the dress drama!

Dress #1 (dress I ordered and bought myself)-  Still haven't taken it to a seamstress- the only work I need done is to have the skirt hemmed and bustled

Dress #2 (Marchesa dress I won in a crazy contest!)-  As far as I know, it's not even done!  I have no clue what is going on and I'm super annoyed!  I just tried to email my contact and got her out of office, she is out on vacation all this week and will be back on the 18th.  I do have an email address for someone at Macy's... I'm contemplating trying to contact her, I do also have an email address for someone at Marchesa but it wasn't actually given to me, I found it in an email trail.  Last update I recieved was about 3 weeks ago and they said the dress would be ready in 2-3 weeks.  So now it's been three weeks!  I can't wait any longer, this is driving me nuts!!!

Should I wait until my go to person is back from vacation on Monday?

Email the Macy's lady?

Email the Marchesa person directly?

I think I'm too nice to people!  I need to just be crazy and pester the crap outta people, maybe I'll finally get some answers!

  • I think you should email them all in the same email so they see that they've all been contacted.  Your wedding is in 30 days.  It takes time to do alterations and they can't expect you to have your seamstress do all the work needed in a limited time frame when she has other clients as well.

  • I would contact all of them. Sadly sometimes you have to light a little fire under people to get things done. This is your wedding and they are really pushing it with your wedding getting so close.

  • I would definitely be emailing all of them.  Make sure you put them all on one email and say you've received quite a run around and you are displeased with the service.  It is now 30 days to go until your wedding and if you can't be guaranteed your dress by the end of the week then you will have to book alterations on your other dress.  Thank god you have the other dress or else you'd be even more panicked!

That's ridiculous they're doing this. You can only be nice until people start treating you like a doormat. No you're not paying, yes you won an amazing contest and thank you for that... BUT give me some answers! If they're not going to make your dress, fine but TELL ME! Time to start demanding some answers girl. Put your angry face on and give them a call instead. Sometimes people need a push to realize that you mean business! ;-)
  • I agree with everyone else for the most part but honestly I would skip the emailing and start making some phone calls.  Its more likely to get you the result you are looking for much more quickly.  You can email if you want but make some calls too.

  • I would e-mail everyone!!  Kill them with kindness and tell them how much you want to wear this dress for your wedding but time is running out.  You could hit them up on facebook too. :)

I agree just email all of them.  Do you have a seamstress lined up?

  • I agree too - email them all.  Then I would probably try calling someone - maybe the lady at Macy's who isn't out of the office, if you have her number.  Sometimes an e-mail is easier to ignore than an phone call.  They told you 2-3 weeks, and it's been 3; they should at least be able to tell you what's going on.
  • Agreed. It's time to be aggressive.
