Bridesmaid Dress HELP!

I have fallen in love with a bridesmaid dress at David's Bridal, but it doesn't come in the right color! I've been searching the web everywhere to find something similar in the color I want (a darker gold), but to no avail. Has anyone seen anything similar? Any thoughts on what we can do? Now nothing else compares!

The Dress is: Style: 83262. The gold it comes in is just too light (and very close to my ivory dress).

Re: Bridesmaid Dress HELP!

  • If you're not getting married until November of next year, wait a while.

Then in April or May, look at the dress selection in stores to see what is available (after you ask your BMs individually for their price range).

You may find that other bridal shops have similar styles or that DB has expanded the color selection.

Also, a word of advice: choose a color that flatters your BMs.
  • Also- ASK your bridesmaids what they can afford before picking a dress.....I know you picked a DB dress, but some people can't even/don't want to pay for that.

  • That's a pretty common style.  I know David's only carries it in the silver and gold, but a lot of other designers carry nearly identical dresses in different colors.

I agree that you should wait until much closer to your wedding, and then look for a color that will flatter all of them (and from a designer in their price range).
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Also, one more tip- try not to fall in love with a dress before everyone tries it on. I totally swooned over a lace overlay dress by Jim Hjelm and everyone else was gung ho to put the 235 down to buy it. Everyone went at different times to try it on and everyone felt like kaka in it. I was really confused because the dress looked so beautiful in the pictures so I took my little sister to try it on, and sure enough, it was totally a hanger only dress. I am sure this dress looks great on your girls, but better to KNOW that than fall in love with it and have to find a new dress to replace this one.

This. The two dresses that were my favorite online looked awful on my BMs (who have very different shapes, so I think overall they're just not flattering dresses). They ended up finding a different one that looks great on all of them, comes in the color I wanted and was in the price range.

It's great to get ideas, and if you go to a store with your BMs the consultants can often show you similar dresses based on those. But don't decide on a dress just yet.
  • THANK YOU!!! Your advice has been very helpful! I did bring my maid of honor in to David's and she also loved the dress (she got to try it on), and the color was great - just too close to my dress ... I think I will just end up waiting a while before deciding on something - I'm just so excited that it's hard to wait!
