Neurotic Pets

Tell me the most neurotic things your pets do! Make me feel better about our two crazies (I'll tell mine below)

Re: Neurotic Pets

  • FI and I got Misty (in my picture) when we were living together, but really she's my baby. When he moved up north for work he was lonely so he got his own kitty, her name is Justice.

Misty's most neurotic behaviour involves Q-tips. She is obsessed with them. She prefers clean, but will take used ones too if she gets the chance. She loves to chew/eat them. Once I saw her standing there with a little fluff ball poking out of her mouth, so I went to pull it out and realized she had an entire Q-tip shoved almost down her throat!!
No matter how careful I am with keeping them put away, she finds ways to get at them and then she hides them in stashes around the house. When I clean under the couch or rearrange furniture, it's inevitable that I'll find them somewhere.

Justice has a weird fetish for organizing things, and seems like she has kitty OCD. FI will come home and find all his dirty socks have been pulled out of the laundry basket, carried into the living room, and put into a neat pile (sometimes with one lone sock in her water dish). Today he came home to a pile of clean socks stacked at the front door. He had left his sock drawer open and she pulled them all out.
She also stacks her toys. When FI bought her a kitty bed, he came home the next day to find all of her toys neatly stacked on the bed, with one toy again in the water dish. She is a freak, I tell you!

  • ROTLMFAO! That cat sounds hilarious!

One of my cats LOVES to lick the scum off the shower curtain. I googled it trying to figure out why and the only answer I could really find was "it's a little known fact that shower scum tastes like tuna fish".... yeah. She also will lick the faucet in the shower to get the drips of water out. The other cats will drink out of their water bowl or the toilet but she's the only one who drinks out of the faucet while it's not on. I'll wake up in the middle of the night to clink clink clink clink... it's her tounge reaching for that drop of water...

Our male cat insists on going outside and then standing on the bench outside our front window looking in at us... Then he'll meow at the top of his lungs to come back it and then want to do it all over again.

Our third cat insists on sleeping on my head. She can be so annoying sometimes because she always has to be right up in your face. Like nose touching nose. This cat will also only go outside at night... you would think the opposite but she refuses to go out during the day.

  • bahahaha! i love it!!!  Clyde likes to keep all his toys together too!!  Oh!! He loves loves loves ice cubes! So when he gets them he runs to his spot on the couch or in 'his' chair...and when he wants to cuddle he will butt up against you and fall, roll onto his back and pass out (sleep)!  it's hilarious!

lol I love hearing about funny stuff pets do.

Riley hates having his collar taken off. If anyone takes it off he jumps on them and barks non-stop. For some reason my mom feels the need to take it off and put it around her (my mom's) neck just to get a rise out of him.

De yum yum has too many to count. She does a really long, high-pitched howl when certain songs come on. Like almost any Michael Jackson song, or the Celebrity Apprentice theme song. She also turns in circles a lot. Like she cant just walk in a straight line from the kitchen to the livingroom, she has to turn around in a complete circle 3-4 times in between. Also, if it's one of those very rare times we let her sleep on the bed with us she always sits by our heads, right in between us, and just stares at the door. We've both woken up so many times to find her sitting up and staring. It's so odd.

    Penny does nothing worth mentioning.

<div>Yes. Misty does ALL of those things! Anyone who says cats are boring pets has obviously never had a neurotic cat before because they are hilarious.</div><div>
</div><div>Also, not only does she have to sleep RIGHTTHERE beside me, but if I move an inch into her space and she doesn't want to be touched, I will be scratched/bitten. What a brat. The worst is when I'm writing/reading or on my computer, and she decides to sit on top of my arms/book/papers/computer, and then gets mad at me when I try to accommodate her comfort but continue doing my task.</div>

  • Where do I even begin?

She insists that every single one of her toys is scattered about the entire house at all times.  I have been putting them in a bigger box to stop her from spilling them out.... so now she's been chewing the box instead... but it's more like she's sucking on the box like a pacifier:

**Please excuse the pink dildo-looking chew toy... I honestly don't even know where that thing came from and FI won't let me throw it out hahaha**

  • Good lord- my dog is nuts! He has a REAL attitude, if he knows he cannot have something, he will bare his teeth at us and give us the evil look. Sometimes it feels like I'm dealing with a kid with a temper tantrum.

He howls and barks nonstop at the window every.single.night. We live in an area where there are a lot of coyotes, bears, wolves- so he's probably hearing them.

He has a sock fetish. He will grab one at every chance he has then he'll stuff them into his mouth so we can't see what he has in his mouth! He will play with them then rip them into shreds. One time I was folding laundry on our bed and our dog went through between my legs and grabbed a sock off the bed then backed out quickly. That little devil.

He also has an obsession with gloves/mittens. One time he dug through an entire suitcase just to grab a mitten and rip it into shreds.

Here is the most recent picture of us!!

  • My Beabull Riley is so crazy.  She is a very anxious dog and has to be near us all the time.  I say she is just like a little baby.  Her favorite thing to do is steal socks.  If there are dirty socks from my FI comes home, she grabs them and shoots under the bed so that no one can take them from her.  When I do laundry, she grabs them from the laundry basket and runs.  She takes washclothes too.

She also has to sit right on top of me when we watch tv.  It doesn't matter if I have my laptop on my lap, she plunks right on top of it.

  • LOL Love these stories!

    My cats sound *relatively* normal.

Louie, our big 17 lb boy kitty (who I think is part Maine Coon)- he's mostly just lazy, but since we got these two big mouse toys, he LOVES them. He rarely plays with other toys, but these, he will pick up and carry around crying....mostly at night, and when nobody else can see him. As soon as he spots you looking, he drops it. He likes to keep them together, too. He'll put them next to each other...except we are currently missing the green one now lol

Pebbles is the crazy one! haha She has what we call a warrior cry. She cries before she goes nuts and tries to literally jump up the wall (but with no front claws, she always slides back down lol) She also cries before she goes #2 in the litter box. She is SO sweet though and loves to cuddle. She also loves to grab a toy and bring it up on our bed as soon as the lights go out and plays like a nut for a while. I'm used to it and can fall asleep though, until she bites my feet.

Both of them meow in the morning as soon as the alarm goes off, or they hear our voices, so we'll feed them. They will get up in my face and stare at me and meow, then walk away. They come back in every few minutes to make sure we didn't forget lol

Oh, and windows...they learned how to push down the blinds with their paws so they can look out. I'm not a fan of this new trick...our blinds are getting bent up!
