Help! My cake!!!

I am a very simple bride, and I am keeping my cake very simple...three tier square cake with white buttercream and just simple brown and orange ribbons.  My dilema....I can not find grease resistant ribbon!  Anyone have any ideas?!

We used a regular green ribbon...not shiny satin...and it was fine with buttercream.

First off, do not use a wired ribbon.  That type of ribbon has a wrinkled look and will not lay flat on the cake.

Rub the ribbon on both sides with shortening.  The ribbon will then be a darker shade, but it will be consistant along the entire ribbon.  There won't be any spots of grease that show.

Some have ironed wax paper on the back side of the ribbon with success.  I don't iron - so I haven't tried that.

Just placing wax paper under the ribbon is usually sufficient, too.
