Average cost of Catering waitstaff/chef/bartender

Helllo - We are having a small wedding in Connecticut (50 or less people) and have been getting proposals from potential caterers.  One of them has indicated a potential 'staffing' cost of $2,100 - 1 bartender, 1 "captain", 1 chef and 4 wait staff.  For a wedding of our size we were a bit surprised by the cost of this but we are new at this and could just be ignorant.

Can anyone comment on whether this is typical for a catered tent wedding?

Thank you!

Re: Average cost of Catering waitstaff/chef/bartender

  • Here is what I see as industry norm:

    Bar tender: $150.00

    Captain: $200.00

Staff: $35.00 per hour, usually 4-5 hour minimum

    Chef: $300-$500
