Help with vintage touches

The location we are getting married at is Victorian so we would like to have touches of vintage throughout. My dress is lace. I plan to use a vintage birdcage for our card holder. We like the look of large amounts of babys breath for our centerpieces.
I'd love help with invitations. I've been trying to find something that is vintage, fun, a little unusual.
I'd also love any suggestions on how to make my wedding have a vintage feel while still being modern.

  • I replied to a post of yours a while back with what we are doing for our Victorian wedding & some ideas. Did you see it?

  • I love the framed table numbers! Tell me more about your Victorian photo wall. It sounds fun.
  • I love that there is another Victorian bride on here! I've been all alone for a year!

We are constructing the photo wall ourselves. I will eventually put some pics on here, but FI is so busy with work that we have not had any time to work on it. To make it we will get a cheap board and some planks so that it stands on its own. We are going to cover the board with a gold & black velvet damask-patterned fabric. I wanted to use wallpaper, but it cost $50/roll. The fabric was only $15!
We also have 2 large frames to use that look Victorian. The basic idea is something like this:
We will probably use family photos like these people did.

I bought a top hat made out of foam, a feather boa, and made mustaches on sticks for people to use as props. We will also provide disposable cameras for people to use & leave behind. There will be instructions for guests with directions to our photo sharing page so that we can post all of the wall pics.

As far as invitations go, you can find tons of Victorian-looking stuff on etsy or on weddingpaperdivas.com  We did our own from Michaels kits and love them. They came out to be like $0.80 each (before postage). They don't look especially old, but they are classy enough to go along with the theme. I used the Brides kit with the chocolate swirls.

  • Is your photographer taking the pictures of the photo wall
  • She will probably take a couple, but it is more for fun for the guests.

  • I think its such a fun idea! I would love to do something similar but we have to take a ferry to get to our venue. Transporting a whole wall would be nearly impossible.
  • Yeah, it would. I've seen people just hang up some fabric and add some props. And Nukke had people hold up a frame in a cool modern yet vintage look.
