Getting in Shape

New WW?

Can someone just explain the new version of Weight Watchers to me? I feel like this is like facebook where they just decided to change everything for no reason and it pisses me off.

I see that my daily target has decreased, which I think it probably good since it's been the same since I started, 40 pounds heavier. But I have gotten so used to 29 points!

Sign. Maybe this is kick up my weight loss.

  • If your points have changed, the point values of foods have likely changed too.  It's not like they're just going to take away your points.

Isn't there something on their site explaining it all?  They had so many articles and pages when they did the change last year that I can't imagine they'd leave you hanging without explanation this year.

  • I thought the only big change was that most fruits and veg are free now.  The points allowed went down because you don't need to factor them in anymore.

But don't take my word on that.  Just going off of what I've read and heard.
  • Fruits and veggies (except for starchy ones like corn) were free with the change last year.  It just changed again this year.

<div>This is the problem. I just need quick, easy to read bullet points on what's different! Straight-forward, without a lot of talk. I was hoping someone else had read it all so I wouldn't have to <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" border="0" alt="Smile" title="Smile" /></div>

  • -MOST fruits and veggies are 0 points, but you should get a new book or go etools so you know for sure
-More focused on "healthy" foods, and take into consideration how you body digests them differently (i.e. a 100 calorie apple is now less points than a 100 calorie brownie, etc.)
-Calories don't matter anymore - points plus are calculation by fat, carbs, protein (thank GOD!), and fiber ---- this makes it nearly impossible to figure out a rough estiamte of points plus, I thought it was pretty simple to figure out about how many points something was before
-Everyone gets 49 weekly points in addition to daily points
-29 is the lowest your daily points will go

    Hope this helped!

I'm pretty sure this is the OLD new plan, that started last year.

  • Meg, I am confused too.  I started to read about the changes and got bored!  My points value went from 29 to 26 and I'm a little peeved but also need a kick in the butt so maybe it will be helpful.
  • My points values per day went from 29 to 28 but from what I read you can adjust it back if you were satisfied with that daily target.  I think they incorparated some of the previous system where your daily target decreases based on your weight.  The changes don't seem that drastic, I have viewed it as a way to remotivate me towards reaching my goals!  Good luck everyone, 88 more days!
  • I went to a meeting last night and my leader explained the changes, though they are not very drastic. One major change is flexibility in changing your DPT. If you were at 29 and your target dropped to 26, you have the flexibility to leave it at 29 if you are comfortable with it or another value between  26 and 29 if you need a change.  For those of us who are not at the former 29 lowest target, we still have to option to change our DPT within +/- 3 of our current target. They're encouraging more of the simply filling option where you only eat foods from the Power Foods list through out the day to avoid tracking which can be a hassle for some. Lastly, instead encouraging you to get AP, they can actually provide you with a target for the week based on your current activity levels. Hope this provides some insight.
  • I'm a new person on this board but went to the WW meeting last night and stuck around for the intro session.  Basically we lost 3 points because they didn't think people would eat so many fruits and veggies that were free and that was adversly affecting people's weight loss.  Biggest thing is if you are a lifetime you get free etools, finally! Hope this helps, but definitely go and get your free books from a meeting definitely worth reading about a bit more.
