Re: Anyone here have........

  • I can't really say where I work because I don't want to look vendorish at all.
But I worked with a bride who was wanting her BMs to purchase something for the wedding. There were 6 BMs. One of them could not purchase that day and would have to wait a week. Which was fine, they still had time. The bride came in THE NEXT DAY with a new girl who "is replacing the other girl".

On top of that, despite the fact I spent 3 hours with this group, got everything they needed/wanted with the exception of some ribbon that could not come in the color she wanted. She claimed I was incompetent, wanted to work with someone with a brain, can never deal with confusion, and would never come back if she ever had to work with me again.

  • About 3 years ago a now former friend of mine got married. She asked me to be one of her BMs, of course I accepted since she was one of my best friends at the time.

In the process, she was rather scatterbrained and left almost everything to the last minute. About 2 months prior, she has all of us BMs come over so she can let us all know when the RD is, when to show up for the ceremony and all that good stuff.

She gets to the part where she said she booked a hair and makeup person to come to the house and do all our hair and makeup (ceremony was in her backyard, reception was at a hotel), she had expressed to me before how she wanted all our hair to be in an updo.

I had concerns with it because:

    1. we're all 5'2" and wear a size 18, she's already wanting us to wear short dresses and flats. an updo would make us all look like oompa loompas.
    2. she had absolutely no clue what exact style she wanted us to have, thus furthering my concern.
    3. it became more blatantly clear that she didn't care about us looking good as long as she did.

At this BM 'meeting', I had very nicely expressed my concern since she STILL had no idea what she wanted even though she was adamant about it. The other girls agreed with me and she got pissed at me, even her mom got pissed at me. About a week later we had agreed to hang out at the local mall and right in the middle of the mall in front of the girl who was going to be her PA, she boots me out of the bridal party citing I'd 'jeopardize' the success of her wedding. Mind you, this was 2 months before her wedding- I had already bought my dress and undergarments.

Thankfully I hadn't gotten alterations done yet, or chipped in for the shower gift or hotel room.

I had thought about going back to her and asking to be reimbursed for my dress, but her wedding planning really clued me into how melodramatic she and her mother were- so I didn't push it.

About a month later, I saw tons of pictures from her wedding on FB since I was still FB friends with the MOH- and I'm so glad I ended up being booted. The girls looked horrible and I'm glad I didn't get frozen in time looking like a hot mess. And the girl that was her PA, replaced me in the bridal party.

  • Mel your FSIL stories crack me up. :) I have a former friend who had chose me to be her MOH instead of having to choose between her two sisters. Her mother was furious with that. It was not a fun time with planning. I would try to help out with things and it would just turn into them doing someting else and never including me in it. Not so much bridezilla, more the mother.

My very own near and dear sister to me drove me nuts 1.5yrs ago for her wedding. She was out of state and it was being held in the state I live in. I did alot of helping out with the plannign and running around and doing things. Which I did gracefuly and witha  big smile on my face and then it go to the point my phone was ringing 3-4 times a day (while I was at work) text messages were pages long and the errands were going overboard. In the end it was so worth seeing the smiles on her face that day and since my biggest duty was picking out and desinging her cake, knowing how much loved it made the bridezilla aspect tolerable :)

Steph- WOW just wow. Same to CashKitty

Not to be mean but why in the world would she say that about her wedding day?!?! I think that all of these stories about these bridezillas seems as if they are being overly dramatic!!!! It also seems that they are losing the main reason why they are getting married...

Your FSIL sounds like a peach! Oh my..

No bad bridezilla stories here, I do know a girl that is not really allowing her FI to help plan anything at all. Their guest list is almost 400 and she insisted on getting a pink hummer limo for their wedding day.

  • No bridezilla stoires here.

When my aunt was planning her wedding 2 years ago she did get a bit annoying, but it was mostly stress getting to her and she's always dramatic.

  • Not necessarily "Bridezilla" more like BSC but...

My friend's cousin has been with her BF for 4 years.  They live together.  She entered a contest & WON an entire wedding (EVERYTHING).  They aren't engaged.  My friend doesn't get why I think this is weird.

<div>I don't know what he thinks but apparently, yes, they're going through with it.  The company the contest was through picks the date, it's Feb 13 of next year.</div>

  • Man, I'd love to win an entire wedding!

There are people out there that don't feel a need to be married and that's all good and fine, maybe that's how they feel about it. My FFIL has known his girlfriend for 30+ years and they've been together for 12 years, they don't feel a need to be married.
