fall colors in summer wedding?

Hi everyone!

My fiance and I are recently engaged and are planning our wedding, tentatively scheduled for next June. We have been talking about colors, and I mentioned that because I always planned on having a fall wedding, I dreamed of using "sun colors" - yellow, orange, and red. However, I am a teacher, which is the reason we've planned our wedding for June. My fiance is insistent that if these colors are what I see in my mind, that's what we will do. Any suggestions on how to "summer"-ify these fall colors?

I know I want to use quite a bit of sunflowers - some in my bouquet, bridesmaids' bouquets, centerpieces, etc., but any other tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Re: fall colors in summer wedding?

  • How about yellow, orange and fuchsia? Taking the red out I feel will diminish the "fall" feel of the colors and instead make them vibrant summery colors. But fuchsia keeps that deep element that red provides.

Welcome, by the way! Feel free to hang around, we're a super friendly bunch!

  • Congrats and welcome!!

I think your colors are fine...there's a big difference between doing something like a bouquet yellow sunflowers with orange gerbera daisies wrapped with red ribbon, and putting fake yellow, orange, and red leaves on burlap for centerpieces. Same colors, but the former is definitely more "sunny," and the latter is fall-ish. I would recommend keeping this in mind when planning stuff like decor, picking bridesmaids dresses, etc.

Check this out to see what I mean...this wedding used those colors, and the whole thing is just gorgeous...http://www.thespecialday.net/blog/?p=396.
  • I think that color combo is beautiful no matter what season. Like Emily said there are ways of making it summery and not so fall like. If you were going to go as far as using leaves and having it be a fall themed wedding it might be different but ant color can be used in any season as long as its done right. By the way welcome to the board and congratulations!

I too am a teacher, always wanted a fall wedding but we are planning for next June (SCHOOLS OUT).  I plan on doing a "FALL" or  "BURNT" ORANGE but I am going to use some PINK to brighten it up and make it "summery"  Hope it helps.
  • thank you so much ladies! I appreciate the congrats and the advice...I put together some yellow, orange, and fuschia paint samples and am LOVING it! I never would have thought of that but absolutely love the combo for summer - thank you!

while I have your attention...(haha). My fiance and I are trying to put together our wedding party. He has an older niece and nephew (they're 23) and tossed out the idea of having them as the ring bearer & flower girl. They are fun people and I think they'd have a blast with it, but his mother (grandmother of the niece and nephew) thinks they'll feel "demeaned." With more modern weddings, I think these roles can be filled with someone other than little kids, and that these two in particular would have fun. His mother, however, who hasn't had "wedding experience" in a good 15 years, thinks they'd feel "demeaned." My fiance now agrees, and now our roles are all messed up. Any opinions??
