Hotel disappointment

So one of the hotels I left a voicemail in the sales dept 3x last week FINALLY called me back. Usually I don't answer the phone if the caller id isn't programmed in my phone but I was waiting for a callback from the hair salon on something. They don't seem as flexible as the Holiday Inn where I did sign a contract and am excited about the guest amenities. But she is still emailing me a contract to look over. I still don't feel like giving this other place my business when they took so long to return a call. Where I work that would never fly!

Re: Hotel disappointment

  • Yeah, not good customer service.  But, depending on their contract, it may be a good second choice for your guests in case the Holiday Inn fills up or something.  Unless you have others you are looking at....
  • I wanted to reserve there and at Holiday Inn because they were the 2 closest. We'll see when the contract gets emailed.

  • Depending on which area your wedding is in, the hotel may not be that interested in hosting groups. I'm a hotel sales coordinator and deal with these things every day. I agree that they should have called you back sooner, but there is probably more pressing issues they had to deal with. Corporate accounts provide a ton more revenue than one time social events. It's the time of year when all corporate contracts are being renegotiated and frankly is a big pain in the booty dealing with all of it. If the hotel is in a touristy area, they will fill regardless of hosting a group or not and those rooms will be without a discount. If that's the case, there's no need for them to deal with one time social groups. You called three times during a holiday week? If that's the case, remember the sales mgr only had three days to get 5 days worth of work done. Not trying to be a jerk, just trying to open opinions on why it took so long to receive a call back. Remember that no one is as excited about your wedding as you are. When you realize that, dealing with vendors is much easier.
