Practical Favors

I am still trying to decide what to do as our favors, I am doing a candy buffet but I want something small / inexpensive at each seat.  I would like it to be something people are actually going to use.... please share your favorite favors you have received at a wedding or one you used that was a big hit!!

Thanks!!

You would really be fine with just the candy buffet. That's all we did, and people loved it.

People tend not to use non-edible wedding favors, so you might be left with quite a few favors not taken if you do something else.

We are doing a candy bar as well as we have many smokers at our wedding. Neither of us are, but my parents (Mom, dad, step mom all are) and so I thought of the idea of sticking a bowl of biodegradable matches out where the smoking area will be. My mom and dad love the idea, then no one is looking for a lighter! And they will be in packs of 10 and they can be taken home by anyone if there are any left.

This isn't something for the tables, but a bin of flip flops is always a big hit... a guest can grab their size and dance in flip flops rather than in uncomfortable shoes or bare feet! And consequently this makes the guys happy because they don't hear the women complaining all night about sore feet! That way you only need enough for your female guests.

We bought bulk truffles from Harry and Davids. Then we bought our own truffle boxes from a wholesale website and wrapped them ourselves. It came out great!

I think the candy buffet idea is plenty.  If you want something at each seat, then put the bag or container that your guests will use at each place setting.

"practical" favors generally get either left behind or tossed after a suitable amount of time.

If you have extra money, you could always just donate it.

We donated to the American Cancer Society, and they gave us free escort cards that described our donation on the back. This killed 2 birds with one stone. Smile

Donations to charitable organizations are lovely, but they are not in any way, shape, or form favors for your guests.  Please see the sticky above about donation favors.

We're giving magnetic alligator clips for our guests.  They have our names and wedding date and are perfect for closing chips and to hang on the refrigerator to hold pictures.  Many people post things on their refrigerators so we thought it was very useful and at .70 a piece - very affordable.

We are going to be making chocolate drizzled pretzels. They're super easy to make, cheap and you can make a lot at one time. We're going to put them in stamped white paper bags tied with ribbon.

I agree with the PP--if you just have to have something at the table, put the candy takeout container at each place setting.

This is what we did. There was one for each guest on all of the tables. And we still had extras.

All great ideas!  I was thinking the same sort of thing.  We are doing matches since a good portion of our guests are smokers.  However I am also toying with the idea of a candy buffet...

To all the brides that have done one, how much did it end up costing you in the end?  I'm thinking dollar store glass bowls and vases for the candy, but for 100 people, how much do you think candy will be?

I really like the idea of the candy bag or container at each place setting!

    Thanks,
    Roz
