Locally grown flowers

Hi all!  I'm trying to work out my flowers plan, but I'm trying to go local with them.  Anybody have recommendations for localy-grown florists/farms/growers in eastern CT?  :)

Thanks so much!

This was important to me, too.

I can't help you with Eastern CT, as I was married in New Haven.  I went through Whole Foods of Milford for my flowers, and the florist there was great!  She sold me locally grown flowers.  I think you just have to ask about the origin.

Look into smaller, family-run florist shops in or near the town where you will be marrrying.

Link to list of growers in CT.  Other ideas:

Whole Foods Glastonbury (I spoke with floral manager, Jackie, today)

This weekend is the CT Floral & Garden Show at the CT Convention Center in Hartford.  It doesn't look like there's too many florists/growers, but the CT Florists' Assoc will be there and can maybe direct you.

Lori at Flore in Southbury works with local flowers. I know... totally not near you.  She's really amazing and does some beautiful more natural/rustic designs.  I loves the bouquets she did for me.  You should talk with her.  At the very least she may be able to point you in the right direction for someone in eastern CT because I know she goes to local flower markets to purchase her flowers each week.

Thanks, folks!  All this is very helpful. I'm actually getting married in Manchester, so I may check out the West Hartford Whole Foods. I'm also considering (not sure yet) just buying local cut flowers and tying bouquests myself with the help of my bridesmaids...we shall see.  :)

Would love to know how you made out - I, too, am East of river...  Thanks and good luck!
