Do not use Kool Kipot

I debated writing this post, but I just had to share my frustration so that nobody else goes through this.  I wish I would have ordered from Mazeltops, but I chose Kool Kipot because on their new satin style ones, the clips are hiddin on the inside (looks like now they are too with mazeltops).  Anyways,  I ordered 5 dozen on January 18th and still have not received them.  I was charged when I placed the order and  told that I would receive in 3-5 weeks.  Well it's now been 8 weeks and for the last 3 weeks, I've called and they have been very rude telling me I would get it the following week and that my wedding is not until May (it sounded like they haven't even imprinted them yet but just got them in).  I realize I still have time before my wedding, but it's very frustrating and I'm moving in 1 week so I gave them my parents address.  I tried disputing the charge with my bank so hopefully I get my money back and can order from Mazeltops.  For those of you who used them, how long did it take for you to get them in?  I've been very patient and nice on the phone, but this seems rediculous.  Sorry this post is so long.

I realize that some people may have used them with better luck, so maybe I should have said "Beware" instead of Dont use....  I wouldn't want this happening to someone who orders withint 2 months of their wedding :-)

Jen, I'm pretty sure that a few other people have mentioned a simliar problem with them in the past, so I don't think it's just you.

Just wanted to update everyone.  I spoke with the lady at Mazeltops and she knew exactly what my situation was before I even told her.  She was sooo nice and apparently has had many complaints from people that have ordered from him that she has had to help. Hopefully this will be resolved soon and she will be able to do my order for me.

I had issues with their timeframe, but my kippot came in time and were just what I wanted. If you have time, there's no need to stress out. If it was a couple weeks before, that's when you can get all worked up about it.

I haven't ordered my yet, but was thinking of Kool Kipah only because the cost (when shipping is factored in) would save a few dollars (though Chaya at MZ is super easy to work with).  Perhaps I'll rethink that and just pay the extra cost - sometimes it's worth it for better service.

Hope you get your kippot soon.

I used Kool Kipah because they had the lowest prices of all the kippot companies I looked at. I ordered them the end of January and didn't get them until last week or so (my wedding's next week) but as long as you order them in enough time you should be fine.
  • I'm not a bride, I'm a Bar Mitzvah mother with a warning.
Koolkipah.com estimated 3-4 for delivery, I ordered almost 7 weeks in advance to easily cross it off my 'to do' list. After 5 weeks: nothing but promises of a beautiful kipah in time for my son's Bar Mitzvah. "What if there's a problem or a mistake?" I asked. "No, they'll be perfect, all we do is kipahs and they'll be wonderful.". Another week: no kipot. Yes, they're coming I was assured.
They finally arrived on the Wednesday evening before our big Shabbat. Perfect? Far from it! My son's name was misspelled. His name is Benjamin. I know, a tough one.
They re-printed the kipot and overnighted them so we received them the day before the Bar Mitzvah.
Save yourself the aggravation and order elsewhere!
