tent rental - any thoughts?

Hi ladies,

I have yet to book our rentals (i.e., tent, tables, chairs, etc) and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions.  I've heard from several caterers that some rental companies have cleaner tents than others.  Other than that, I'd like to find the best deal possible!!! 

Any thoughts on companies, what to ask about or request, or negotiating tips would be greatly appreciated if any of you have gone through this or will be!!

    Hmm, I'd never thought about a tent being cleaner than others! Haha. Luckily mine looked pretty clean I guess ... Smile

    This is one area I did a lot of checking around in regard to prices and we ended up going with ABC Rent-A-Tent in Westport, Mass., (they do travel to RI) because they had the best price overall. One popular one wouldn't even give me a quote without going to the site with me - even though they have done many, many events at this venue - and I wasn't driving out to Tiverton just to meet with a tent guy I might not even use because they wouldn't even give me a ballpark and could have been twice what others were charging for all I knew.

    Another one I avoided because a Knottie had a terrible experience with them when they refused to set up the tent because a storm was coming and she had to move her entire wedding up a day.

    I worked with Don at ABC. Also, Chase Canopies in Massachusetts has some lovely sailcloth tents with wooden poles (<-- clicky) among their offerings and I know that would fit with your theme. Their prices were pretty good overall, and they were trying to increase their RI business, but I don't know about the cost of those specific tents because we priced out a frame tent through them.     Thanks, Kristen!! I do have a quote from ABC and they seemed really reasonable to me - glad to hear they are good (and clean!) haha, I had no idea that would be an issue either!

    I just contacted Chase, so thank you so much for the tip!  The sailcloth tents look awesome, and defintely in keeping with the theme :)

    I had Newport Tent and they were fabulous.  Very easy to work with and reliable!
