Found the dress I'm getting married in!

I fell in love with an Essence of Australia dress for $1300 dollars! My budget is closer to $500. I found the dress on preownedweddingdresses.com for $700 being sold by a salon in Louisiana. I just checked the website again and it dropped to $590!!! I have plans to go shopping tonight and I'm thinking that if I don't find something tonight, I'm going to try on the Essence dress again and probably get it. Advice or opinions on this? I love the dress...my only concern is the sizing. It's the right size but it still worries me. Do you think I should get it?

Poll is messed up...couldn't get the rest of my options on it...ignore.

Re: Found the dress I'm getting married in!

  • Have you tried the dress on in a salon so that you KNOW it looks good on you and you like it?
Have you asked the seller of the dress online if there were any alterations, etc done to it (especially hemming - if it's too short, there's not much that can be done)?
Do you know what, if any, return policy the seller has?

If you're comfortable with your answers to all of these questions, and know you LOVE the dress, I say go for it.  I bought my dress on Ebay, and I saved about 50% off the salon price and got EXACTLY what I wanted.

    Good luck!

  • Do you love the dress? Are you second guessing the dress or just that it's online?

If it's the dress for you, you should buy it, after asking some detailed questions about condition, since it is a sample. That listing is from a shop that's been in business for years, and they look reputable.

Ordering online is safe, as long as you know 1. who's selling 2. what they're selling you 3. that your purchase will be protected by Paypal or your credit card company if you never receive your item.
  • I've tried it on in a local store. It looks exactly like what I would want my wedding dress to look like. I'm not second guessing the dress, I'm only wary of the online sale. I searched for the store on the internet and they look like a very nice and reputable store. The purchase would be covered by PayPal/credit card. The seller has assured me there are no rips/stains or alterations done to it.

I want to give shopping tonight a fair shot at still finding a dress but this one will definitely be my comparison point.

  • It sounds like this is the dress for you. And it's beautiful. I'd say this is your dress. But I understand your hesitation about buying it online. Maybe after your shopping tonight, you will feel better about this purchase.

  • it's a beautiful dress. you've tried on the dress and love it so that is great. make sure you pay with paypal. contact the seller to see if they seem professional. ask for them to confirm that the dress is "impeccable". if all checks out i say go for it!
  • Just promise us you'll use a secure form of payment so you have some recourse if there is something wrong with the dress. Other then that it is absolutely beautiful and I'm sure you will look stunning in your dream dress. Happy Shopping!

well ladies...I gave dress shopping a really good effort last night....and I walked out of the store 20 minutes after they closed with a dress! I love it!!! I found one really similar to the essence dress but I like this one so much more and I got a great price! It's simple and beautiful and I felt like me in it. No big crying moment or anything but weighing my options and looking at what parts of the dresses I liked and didn't like, led me to a wonderful decision! Thanks for all your advice!

  • I just sold my brand new with tags dress on PreOwnedWeddingDress.com.  Had to get another when I got pregnant.  The dress is literally brand new and I had to take a loss of half what I paid.  So I say go for it.  Not everyone is out to swindle.
