  • 1.  Yes, I go with FI's (very) Catholic family.  I don't mind it though...I like the singing and re-emergence of spring fashion.
    2.  Just since I met FI, so three times total
    3.  Kind of...FIs mom throws a party after church.
    4.  If it was a really nice place, I wouldn't mind paying like, $50 (if mimosas were included and some sort of amazing belgian waffle bar, or an amazing omelette station).
    5.  Nothing.  :-(.  Muslims don't do Easter.
    6.  Nope.
    7.  OH MY GOD YES.  Last year during exams, we would microwave them in the law school cafeteria.  Amazing.
    8.  Mini-eggs, yes.  Creme-filled- no.
    9.  Not unless the chocolate is good.

What did you get in your Easter basket as a child? Fvcking peeps. I hate those bastards. I never had the heart to tell my mom and dad I HATED them, because I thought it was so sweet of them to get me easter candy. I think they thought I loved them, so I would get like, 50 every year. My mom, however, got me an easter basket with candy and a stuffed animal every year until I was 22. No joke. Cutest ever.

    Yes, every year.

  • Are you going to church for Easter?  Nope.
    Have you ever?  Yep.
Are you going to brunch?  At my parent's house.
How much would you pay for Easter brunch?  I don't go out for Easter brunch.
What did you get in your Easter basket as a child?  You mean what do I get?  My mom still puts one together and makes me find it in the house.  We all always got candy, a (white) chocolate bunny, and the past 10 or so years my mom has gotten me nail polish (I also get this in my Christmas stocking).  My favorite is our stuffed bunnies.  Every year, my mom finds 3 matching bunnies for my brothers and I.  I always get the pink or purple version, and my brothers get "boy" colors.  One year the girl bunny was blue with a pink shirt, and my little brother got the "orange" one (it was peach at best) and he threw a fit.  He still won't admit that he has the orange one.
Did you ever believe in the Easter bunny?  Yes.  One time, he even left my dad a note thanking him for leaving his Coke out, unfinished.  The Easter Bunny was happy to finish it.
Do you like peeps?  No, but I like peep fights.  2 peeps in the microwave, whichever peep expands bigger wins.
    Cadbury eggs?  No.
Chocolate bunnies?  Yes, but I like the white chocolate ones more.

Are you going to church for Easter?
Probably.  My parents want us to go to vigil mass, which is like 3 hours long.  H is not amused.  We'll discuss it this week.
    Have you ever?
    Pretty much every year.
    Are you going to brunch?
Not out.  My parents will make breakfast.
How much would you pay for Easter brunch?
$20?  More if it comes with free booze.
What did you get in your Easter basket as a child?
Candy, and always a CD or something random.  More recently, my sister has started spray painting canned beer in pastel colors and hiding them all over.  I dig our "easter egg" hunts now.
Did you ever believe in the Easter bunny?
    Yup
    Do you like peeps?
    Barf
    Cadbury eggs?
    Nom
    Chocolate bunnies?
Oh God yes.  We used to make them at my grandma's.

  • Are you going to church for Easter?  Yes, just Vigil on Saturday night though (I love Vigil), because we aren't singing in the morning this year.  It gives me the chance to visit my BM in the hospital though.
Have you ever?  I always do.
Are you going to brunch?  Probably two - one on my side of the family, and one on his.  I hope they aren't at the same time again this year though.  That gets annoying - last year both were during church, so I didn't really get to go.
How much would you pay for Easter brunch?  I don't really pay.  Grandma feeds me (FH and I are the oldest cousins... so our grandmas are young in comparison to others).
What did you get in your Easter basket as a child?  Candy, small gifts related to spring/summer or electronics.
Did you ever believe in the Easter bunny?  I was always skeptical.
Do you like peeps?  Not really.
    Cadbury eggs?  Somewhat.
    Chocolate bunnies?  Absolutely!

Fun fact:  our church has the coolest Easter Vigil ever.

It starts with a huge bonfire - in an area next to the church - including the dried out Christmas decorations, dried palms from last year, and firewood to keep it going all night.

Then from the bonfire, we light the Easter candle and proceed to light the candles of every single person in the church.  Then we go inside, where everything is dark and start things off by candlelight.

Once we get to the Gloria, the lights come on.

We also get up and leave the sanctuary for baptisms at the font near the entry way.  We have the font emptied so it can be refilled before the baptisms, and do that as part of the process.  The choir comes out too, and sings for each of the newly baptized - it's very cool.

    The rest is pretty normal.

But afterward, the church throws a huge party for everyone who came.  Wine (and one cop from my hometown), cake, punch... and a lot of talking to people.  It's fabulous.

The latest I think the after party has ever gone is until about 2 am.  And Vigil normally starts at 8 and is over by 9:30 or 10 (depends on how many baptisms there are that year).

My church throws an awesome after party.

  • Has anyone tried the milk or dark chocolate covered peeps? They're yummy and taste way better than plain peeps.  Plus, one chocolate covered peep is only 2 points on Weight Watchers if you need a little something sweet.  An entire 4 pack of plain peeps is only 2 points also.  And...if anyone has a Rita's Italian Ice near them, they have a peeps flavor.  Haven't tried it yet.
