40 Days to go...and my baker backed out!

So I had an up-and-coming baker doing my cake, but she just got diagnosed with swine flu and has cancelled our wedding cake (which I appreciate since I'd rather NOT have swine flu...thank you very much!). However, I am 40 days from the wedding, and need to find a reasonably priced wedding cake for 100 guests. Any ideas?

    Seems like a funny reason to cancel your cake which is 40 days out. Swine flu is gone within 2 weeks. Did you get your deposit back?

    Yes. I thought it was weird too, but I figured at least she told me now (instead of with a week to go) and gave the money back. I am moving on from that experience!

I am coordinating the wedding for Vanessa and Joshua, who were seeking borrowed donations, and I believe you had some available? Anyway, we can discuss that issue later.     I had swine flu.  I was over it in 3 days.  Your old baker sounds like there was something else going on.

    Yes.. I had swine flu too.. that is why I said it was odd. I don't even think they test for it anymore. (unless you pay out big $$ for the test). None the less-- you got some work ahead of you. I would just start calling bakers in the area to see if they have your date open. If not in Austin, look in the surrounding cities.

    Exactly my thoughts... I figured it is likely something else, but if she doesn't want to bake the cake the LAST thing I want is for her to bake it and do a bad job.Hence, I am off to research and find a new cake. Welcome to wedding insanity. YAHOOO!!!
