tipping?

Just curious...wedding is already over but I never thought about this til now.  Are you tipping any of your vendors?  I know some of mine had gratuity included in the price we paid, like the reception site.  I never thought of tipping any of the other vendors, but personally I dont feel like you have to since you're already paying for a service.  No way am I tipping the waitstaff.....they didn't do the job we paid them to do, let alone deserve anything extra.  I know tipping practices vary by region, so just curious on what you did/were planning to do.  I dont have final products from photographers and videographers yet, so I do'nt feel like I can judge their services yet.

Uh oh...what happened with the waitstaff??

I plan on tipping the bartender and DJ at the end of the night, if they do a good job.

Also, if I am super blown away by my wedding pictures, I will probably tip our photographer as well.  She is just starting out, and her prices are incedibly cheap so if I am super happy, I plan on giving her some extra money as a thank you.

If we had a limo, I would probably tip them.

My tip for the waitstaff is included in my catering/reception site contract, it is 20% and sales tax is calculated AFTER the 20%, so they will not be receiving any additional gratuity.  It also includes the tip for the bartenders.

The tip for the limo driver is included in their contract as well, and I have to pay that in cash to the driver the day of.

I don't plan on tipping anyone else.  But I do plan on giving my church a nice donation.  Their fee is only $75.  I am NOT tipping the ceremony musician because he is charging $175, which I think is more than enough.

My DJ and my photographer own their own companies.  I read that if they are owners of the company, then they do not receive a tip.

We tipped the limo guy per the contract.

We tipped the DJ and photographers.

Our waitstaff and bar tenders were included in our "service fee" so nothing above and beyond that.

Our officiant volunteered, so we gave him a nice cash tip as well.

I also threw a tip out to my DOC...cause she flipping rocked!

Someone mentioned once about tipping anyone who delivers stuff, like the florist and the baker???  We didn't do that as delivery was all included in the fees and no one was there when they delivered.

What did you tip your photographer, if you do'nt mind sharing?  I feel like I should wait until I get a final product for that before deciding if the service was above & beyond.

I didnt think it was legal to charge tax after gratuity. I worked in several restaurants all through High school and college and when gratuity was included tax was ALWAYS calculated prior to adding gratuity. CANTARNTINA may I ask where you are having your reception?

Coco, it's legal because it's part of the contract.  I questioned this also, and looked it up, and it's legal simply because they include 20% gratuity in their contract.  So it's not really gratuity, but more of a required fee, and hence sales tax is charged.  So they are within their rights.
