NAS JAX Officer's Club

Has anyone had a reception there recently? I am looking into getting married on base, my fiance is in the Navy stationed in Norfolk, and I am wondering what kind of cost is involved in holding my reception here in Jacksonville. I haven't had a chance to go by there yet. Any help would be appreciated.

is that the Ocean Breeze Conference Center or is it totally different?

If it is .. then I'm getting married there and I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have!

I am getting married at the chapel and having my reception at the O club at NAS JAX in June! It was really easy to book it, but not until after they took my deposit did they tell me we needed a sponser that works on NAS JAX to use their facilities. Since my fiance isn't based there, I started freaking out. But come to find out Jesse's uncle works there so he is our sponsor. That is the only complaint I have. So I would just clarify w/ the club coordinator that you have the appropriate contacts so that you have a sponsor. Other than that, it is only $450 to use the club, that includes the whole day, all linens, dishes, tables, chairs, etc. They have pretty cheap dinner options too. Sometimes it can be difficult to get in touch w/ the lady who runs the club and coordinates catering for the club, but she always gets back to me. I think it's just b/c she's in the military and has other jobs to do rather than only a party planner that you would find at a civilian venue.
I hope some of this makes sense haha! Please let me know if it doesn't! Good luck! I think the club is so pretty since it's on the river and it's so cheap!!!

Shayna... you have me pretty worried right now...  I booked my date/gave a deposit in early February and had all my sponsor paperwork sent to her that same week. I haven't been informed that my sponsor has to be From NAS Jax.  (mine is out of state).  I will Totally freak if that's the case.  I don't know anyone in Jax that would sponsor us.

ummmmm... unless the officer's club isn't the same place.  :)

Alot of times when I google Ocean Breeze, the officer's club pops up that's why i think its the same.

Are you dealing with Libby on base?

    Lissy,

I believe the Ocean Breeze is located at Naval Air Station Mayport, the O Club that I am talking about is the one at NAS Jax on Roosevelt nearer to Argyle/Orange Park....hopefully this is what Shayna is referring to as the pricing sounds AMAZING.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks so much! That helps a lot. Does the O club provide any kind of decoration (centerpieces) or am I completely on my own there? And if I might be nosy which chapel are you guys getting married at? And how much is it to reserve? My parents got married in the protestant chapel so I would love to be able to do the same.

    Hey Heidi!
FI and I are doing our reception in the O Club next Feb. I have not had any issues so far. I emailed the catering coordinator last week, it took her a while to get back to me but she eventually did. Shayna's post about the club providing linens is true but they are not floor length, so we are renting different ones. But other than that, food and alcohol are reasonably priced, and the main dining room is huge and the east facing walls are all windows with beautiful views of the St. Johns. I believe they offer hurricane vases with candles for center pieces, but I am not 100% sure.

We are not doing our ceremony in a chapel. Their is a super cute pavilion a few yards from the club that is right on the water.

    Hope that helps!

Yes, I am talking about NAS JAX on Roosevelt Blvd. They do have some vases. mirrors and hurricaine lamps w/ candles for a charge. i dont really know if they're a rental charge or what but it's super cheap. on the packet it says vases $1. i have no idea how big they are but it's only $1!! They also have a dance floor for rent. I'm working with Lyn. We're getting married at the All Sanits Chapel which is the protestant chapel. They're both beautiful and pretty identical just 2 different sides of the building lol. If you want any more help or you just wanna talk about it you can email me at shayna_352@yahoo.com. Hope I'm helpful and not scaring anyone!!! :)
