Yeahhh!!!! I'm the Knottie of the day!! What an honor!

    1. First Name & Fiance's First Name Traci & Terry

    2. Your Birthday & Age and Fiance's Birthday and Age me: 7/4, 33 and 9/17, 39

    3. City Born In? Louisville, KY

    4. City Live in? Louisville, KY

    5. Where did you go to college? Sullivan University and Indiana University - Southeast

    6. What was your major? Business Management and Pharmacy

    7. What is your current job? Analyst

    8. What is your dream job? Medical Surgeon

    9. How did you and your fiance meet? MySpace. He was originally supposed to be a friend with benefits but he shocked me.

    10.  When did you get engaged and how did he do it?? 4/6/09. Wow that's a long story. Short version: He tricked me into thinking that I had to choose another engagement ring when we went on a family vacation to Cincinnati! Well what he didn't say was he had bought the ring already and that's why it was no longer on the jeweler's website. My son, my FI and I went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner on our first night in Cincy. He excused himself to go to the truck. Later I heard someone saying my name over the loudspeaker. I get up, see that it's Terry and waved him to where we were sitting, thinking he forgot, then I sat down. My name was called again. I waved a little more insistently thinking he didn't understand me. That's when he said, "Traci, I know we haven't known each other for very long but would you take my hand in marriage?" I was dumbfounded and I kept nodding my head like a bobblehead. The restaurant was packed and someone yelled for me to go ge the ring because I didn't move!! He put it on my finger and he cried. lol

    11. When is the Wedding Day? 5/8/10

    12. Where is the ceremony and reception? Ceremony - Planetarium and Reception - Sawyer Hayes Community Center

    13. What are your wedding colors? black, silver, with accents of red

    14. Where are you honeymooning? 7 day cruise to the Bahamas with my son and my newborn. It will be fun to take the kids with us.

    15. Favorite wedding vendor so far? Don't really have one. They have ALL been great!

    16. Biggest wedding splurge? Reception venue. It's state of the art electronics there

    17. What is something you wish you could have at the wedding but don't? My parents. They both are deceased. My oldest brother is walking me down the aisle.

    18. Another knottie wedding you'd like to attend? Oh there are so many. I would say ChocolateDelight because even though it's a vow renewal, I want to see what's like to marry someone again that you have been through heaven and hell with in the last 18 years.

    19. Favorite book? shoot! Um, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

    20. Favorite movie? Blade Runner

    21. Favorite tv show? D'oh!!!! The Simpsons

    22. Favorite wedding dress designer? Don't have one really.

    23. Any advice you can give? Communication is of utmost importance. Don't let it lag with the daily pressure of life. Set time for yourselves daily.

    24. Anything you wish you could change about your wedding? Not really. I never had a "vision" for my wedding, per se. I like the uniqueness of it.

    25. Share something about yourself!!  As you already know I am a geek and nerd :) But what most people don't know about me is that I was raised to not see race. My mother told me the outside doesn't count but the inside. My FI feels the same, which is rare, and we are raising our children to not see race either. Race was conjured up by man to sow dissension and heighten difference between human beings. It starts at home. Most people think I am unrealistic but it has to start somewhere!

Pasma, I had SUCH a guy attitude towards sex for the longest. It kinda unnerved some guys actually but with Terry, he stayed on my mind for a number of reason, one being we are both nerds and absolutely sci fi. He's almost 40 and he thought he would NEVER find a woman who liked a lot of the same things he did. With him I can be my goofy self and let it show without being belittled about it.

    Traci - Thanks for sharing!

Do you happen to know a family with the last name Anthony in Louisville?

Do you know what cruise line you are traveling with? When I wanted to take my daughter with us for my birthday back in August (she was just about to b2 3 months), a lot of cruise lines told me that newborns under the age of 6 months were not allowed...have you checked into that?

@TysWife2B, I know one half of Louisville and I'm related to the other half so I'm sure there is someone I know with the last name of Anthony. Just can't remember who . . .

I'm traveling with Carnival. You can take your infant at 6 months. Our original honeymoon time was in June but because the baby will only be 3 months and I will be nursing, we figured it would be just better to take him and his big brother with us so we are going in December. He will be 8 months by that time.

@ladylum...glad you checked into the cruise...didnt want to be the bearer of bad news but you already know so that is good...   :-D

I dont wanna put their names on here since I already threw their last name out there...but I know a sister and brother whose last name is Anthony (both names start with a C)....

Maybe that will ring a bell...

@Ladylum - You are going to make me cry this morning.  I am so touched and honored that you would like to attend our wedding vow renewal.   You are more than welcome to attend.  Living in Texas where we do everything big, and coupled with my New Orleans roots, you know it is going to be a PARTY GRAS!!!
Send me a PM with your mailing address and when the invites go out in early sumer, I will send you an invitation.

And you are right, the past 18 years (dating & marriage) have been quite a journey, which only gets better with time.   Marriage is hard work, but it can also be so fulfilling and an absolute joy when you have the right partner by yourself.

I love reading your story because it teaches us that good things happen when you least expect them to.  Good things come in unexpected packages. . .  So, don't ever block your blessings and continue to cherish those people around you that truly care and love you.

Amen to your comments on race . . . love knows no boundaries or colors . . .

    Happy planning

My Hubby is from the Caribbean islands, so we are thinking about taking the kids to the Carnival in the Bahamas too. We are thinking of going to St. Kitts next summer; that's where MIL is from. It's always nice to see some culture.

Hey Ladylum!  I love your story.  I was cracking up at the fact that you kept waving to him to come back to the table.  That is hilarious.  So which one of you went to Indiana Universtiy?  I graduated from Indiana University-Bloomington in 2002.  Also, I absolutely love your wedding theme.  It's so unique and so personal to you guys.  Thanks for sharing.

@csuperstar, Lum is a Japanese anime' alien who comes to Earth and all the guys like her but she only loves one man. Reminded me of myself! I put lady in the front because most people are not familiar with anime' and so it would denote I am female.
Wedding Party has 4 BMs, 4 GMs, flower girl and ring bearer (my son).

Woo hoo! As for the electronics, we are bringing DVDs for the children (reception is child friendly) and we will probably had a DVD of the wedding ceremony or something playing at the same time. Also we are going to use our kicka$$ sound system to party up in there.

@KSTURGIS, my fellow red wedding dress knottie, my biggest pet peeve is ignorance that can easily be remedied. With all the ways to gain knowledge these days, I'm amazed that the American people as a whole are pretty uncultured and stupid. That would be fine in a 3rd world country where there are not a lot of advantages but people CHOOSE to be this way. I get made fun of at work because I love music from Japan (they are really into jazz and r&B there with some interesting twists) but instead of being open that maybe it sounds good, nope, it's weird and I need to listen to other stuff. I listen to anything that sounds good.

Most memorable moment is when I had my firstborn child. His father was not there at all for the pregnancy but I had support of my oldest brother and sister. He looked at my son and said he looked like an uncooked chicken! LOL

Celebrity I want to sock in the eye . . . Jennifer Aniston. I can't stand her victimizing herself. I understand Brad left you (girl you should have had some kids!) but let it go. Everyone likes it that she's the victim but it's been years since Brad left her. She needs to let it go and move on. Since she can't exactly keep a guy, that should tell people maybe something is wrong with HER and it's not all Angelina's fault. Brad's a man and he was going to go where he would be able to fulfill his dream of children.

@Rhoyal, I'm a Star Wars girl too! That's why I am walking down the aisle to Star Wars music. lol FI is more of a Trekkie but I like Star Trek too.

@tamtam, I went to Indiana University Southeast, haven't graduated yet in computer science (took some time off for the pregnancy). I was studying pharmacy until I got to chemistry and it kicked my butt. If I had infinite money and time, I would take it until I got it right. That's the only thing keeping me from being a dr and you need A LOT of chemistry. :(

As for the wedding theme, I love sci fi and there are actually a lot of people looking forward to it because it's unique and fun. We had someone we barely know beg us to put him on the guest list because he wanted to see what it would be like. I guess I'll have to youtube the ceremony so people can see it!

Thanks ladies for the compliments! Looking forward to reading more knottie of the day information.
