My skin is throwing a fit.

I recently came down with some kind of evil virus, and although I've been to the doctor and am on the mend, I think the physical stress of being sick has caused some seriously unpleasant skin issues.  I have very sensitive skin but rarely break out because it's fairly dry.

Right now my skin is so dry it's flaking, but also very broken out in lots of spots and blackheads, at the same time I have very dark eye circles, almost like two black eyes, and overall have lost all the 'glow' of my skin and hair.

I have 3 months until the wedding so it's not just about that... but is there anything I can do so I don't look so miserable?

  • I just posted about the Olay line because I am interested in trying it out.  I think its supposed to be pretty good but I wanted to get some others' advice.  Have you been to a dermatologist?
Maybe you could take some prenatal vitamins? They do wonders for hair, skin, and nails.  Make sure you are drinking tons of water and getting 8 hours of sleep, too - just the basics.  Sorry you are feeling blue :( It won't take long until you are back to yourself again :) Hope you start to feel better!

  • Lots of water, overdose on fruits and veggies for the next few weeks. See a dermatologist if you haven't already. Find an unscented, gentle moisturizing lotion for your face to ease the dryness.

  • I work at a dermatologist office I would suggest panoxyl,it's pretty much the strongest otc you can buy, some birth controls can help too! however I highly recommend making an appointment with a dermatologist because there are different types of acne that need to be treated different ways...and it usually takes around 3 months to get better.
    Anniversary
  • I got some bad breakouts when I had strep throat a few weeks ago. I think it's just a little side effect from being sick.

Drink lots of water, use an acne fighting cleanser but continue moisturizing, and use under eye cream to help with the dark circles. Give it a week or so and if nothing changes, then I'd see a dermatologist.

I wouldnt use an acne fighting cleanser or cream on dry skin.  That always makes me break out worse. My skin is dry and I always break out more when it's dryer- the flaking clogs my pores.

Moisturize like crazy, drink ALL the water, get lots of sleep, moisturize some more, avoid processed foods (fast food, etc.) and eat LOTS of fruit and veggies.
  • I agree with what everyone has said!  Just eat clean and drink water nonstop.  You'll be gorgeous on your wedding day!
