Reception Info on Invite?

I'm a little torn on where I should include the reception information in my invite suite. We are inviting everyone who is invited to the wedding to the reception as well, which is being held at another location. We are using pocketfold invitations from Cards and Pockets.

I really only want to include 2 enclosures to save on money but also I don't want to stuff the pocket too full. One enclosure being the RSVP card and the other being general info: directions, accommodations, parking, and our wedding website info. Is it ok then to include the reception info on the invite itself? For example:

Me & Him
Request the honor of your presence at our marriage

Date
Time
Church Name
Address

Reception to follow at Time
Place
Address

Besides the risk of cluttering the invite is this ok? Any other ideas?

Re: Reception Info on Invite?

  • If you're set on having only 2 inserts that's fine, but 3 or even 4 inserts would not be too full in the pocketfold. Just sayin' :) I put in fake dates/times for the wording here.

This would be the best way to word it with the reception info on the invite itself:

The honour of your presence is requested
    at the marriage of
    Bride Full Name
    and
    Groom Full Name

    Saturday, the sixteenth of June
    two thousand twelve
    four o'clock

    Church Name
(address if church is not well known in that town)
    City, State

Reception to follow at half after five o'clock
    Venue Name
(address, again, if venue isn't well known)
    City, State

If you did a separate reception card, just take off that last block of text from the invite and word the insert as follows:

Please join us for a reception
beginning at half after five o'clock

    Venue Name
    (address)
    City, State
  • I was going to do this to save on money as well... and many invites have it worded where the reception info is on the invite card, not on a separate card. However, I got a great free template download to make invitations, rsvp and response cards that I am using and will be making the invites myself.

I think what the wording you and the pp has is perfect.

  • I'm putting the reception info on the invite itself, to cut down on the postage weight and on paper consumption. If you venue is easy to find on a map, I think that the maps are also kind of unecessary (in this day and age of iPhones, gps, and googlemaps). Although now that I'm thinking about it, the accommodations cards would make sense for my situation... Hm... But the postage is so damned expensive...

I hate wedding costs. It seems like as soon as you slap the label "wedding" on something it doubles in cost!

Well, I can never guess what the females on Etiquette will recommend about invitations, however, my etiquette books all say this is just fine. It's what we're doing, 'cause I like my books 1,000x better than the females in Etiquette.

You can get wording samples online and in etiquette books at the library. Those females like Crane best.

Of course, postage is one of those things that DOESN'T cost more when you say "wedding."
  • Thanks for all of your help! It's good to know that others are including it on the invite. It seems all the samples you see on wedding blogs have separate inserts and I just wanted to be sure I wasn't alone!
