Start your Engines

MY FI proposed last month and we have a date of April 21, 2012 (our first date anniversary). I have been on the planning wagon since the third day. I am basically calling in all favors from my many years as a professional musician and good friend.

Things Done:

So far I have the venue Polytechnic Church, it's on my college campus and since I work there I am getting a nice deal. The Officiant, both my parents are preachers with doctorates so FREE. The bartender, I asked ours from our bar and he is more than excited to do it. The flowers and decorations are being done by a friend who is a florist. The DJ is my best friends husband. Invitations created and paid for. Cake tastings scheduled.

Things To-Do:

Finalize guest list. Finish website. Find a caterer. Find a reception venue. (I have put in a few quote request for different reception venues.) I am still searching for a videographer/photographer. I have no clue what we are wearing, still haven't chosen final colors. Create order of service for ceremony/reception.

ANY INPUT WOULD BE WONDERFUL!!!!!!

Wow congrats!  Let us know what we can do to help.  There is a venue/vendor sticky at the top of the page.  I suggest starting with your guest list/size first thing since that is going to determine what size venue you need, how much cake, etc.  Don't worry about colors, just pick what you love.  Your DJ and photographer/venue planner once you get one can help you with your timelines so don't worry about those yet.

#1 and 2 should be guest list and reception venue, pronto. And your dresses should also be pretty quick--those can take several months to arrive.

I agree with stephie reception venue, guestlist and dress pronto!

I also wouldn't suggest spending a ton of time on your website unless you just get bored. I have had maybe only a hand ful visit mine. (It has a counter so that is how I know.) and I put a lot of time into it.
