Park/Community Center/Backyard Wedding Venue Help!

Has anyone gone to or had a wedding in a city park or at a community center? I'm looking for an inexpesnive outdoor wedding venue with an inside reception. I started thinking about the idea for a community center and wasn't sure if anyone knew of any pretty cities or parks in the DFW area? I'm also toying with the idea of a background/lake house wedding but I"m not sure how willing people are to rent out their house for such an occassion. I don't definitey don't want to spend more than $2,000 on a venue since some places you have to rent your own chairs and tables, then of course there is food, alcohol, etc. My guest list will probably be around 70-80 people.
I have already considered Meyers Park and Winfrey point. Any other suggestions would be great!

Winfrey Point is one of the cheapest around--however, you have to bring everything in.

I got married at Avanti and I loved it! But, you would have to quadruple your budget to get a Saturday. I did save about a grand by doing a Sunday though. What about the Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park? You can do an outside ceremony/inside reception with different options for both locations. The different locations vary in price. I also looove the Trinity River Audubon Center, but I have no idea on the price point.

Thanks I'll check out those community centers. I'm trying to find something inexpensive..if I had a backyard I would just have it there! Other question, I know someone mentioned having their wedding on a Sunday. I was thinking about a Friday option since it's significantly cheaper usually. Has anyone had a wedding on a Friday? Or gone to a wedding on a Friday? Do you think it's too inconvenient for guests? Thanks in advance for any input!

Friday weddings are certainly not unheard of. If you will have alot of OOT guests, you might want to think about that. But it can be done. I went to a wedding on a Wednesday recently 121212. I have to admit, I didn't love it. But I don't think a Friday is as bad since few people work on Saturday.

My sister got married at Spring Park Community Center it is technically in Garland but on the end of Richardson. They have an outside space for ceremony and inside two story space for reception.

Yea pretty much all of our guests are local, so a Friday might be doable.

I considered doing the Fort Worth Water Gardens for ceremony (a few hundred) and then the T&P Station (right across the street) for indoor reception. I can't remember the exact pricing for the T&P but it might be close to your budget for a Friday. I think it was $2500 for a Satruday when I was looking (but don't quote me on that).
