Hair stylist and MUA

I'm looking for both to come to my house the morning of 10/10 and a trial over the summer (on Staten Island).

The problem is I am about to be unemployed.  We have to cut our guest list even after sending STDs out in March.  Humiliating but it is what it is.

I don't want to look like a slob on my wedding day so I  have to have hair and makeup done.  I am need to hire someone that is not pricey.  Maybe someone who is free lancing on the side or is trying to build a portfolio.

Thanks!

What's your budget?  The cheapest I've found for pros who will do just bride's hair/makeup is $300, but I'm looking in Manhattan/Brooklyn, not SI, so maybe some SI brides have better deals... Also, if that's out of your price range (and I grant you it's nuts for someone doing your hair and putting some makeup on you, but I'm paying it anyways..), maybe try Craigslist??
    Good luck!

As a former hair stylist and cosmetology teacher I'd sooner do it myself than pay $300 lol

So far all the prices for makeup that I have gotten were lower.  One girl who works in Barney's and lives in Bklyn quoted me $250 with eyelash application.

    Thanks!

Ditto - if you found someone for less, than all the power to you.  Hopefully, the trial is to your satisfaction.  Otherwise, as suggested, there are plenty of free lancers on Craigslist that you can try.  But be prepared to go through a few folks.  I tried and wasn't happy with the results, thank goodness I didn't spend a lot.  You only get married once and for me, it was worth paying a bit extra for a 12+ hour day.

Someone I went to high school with is a MUA, she works with the Today show and MSNBC and quoted me $150 with an $85 trial.

I'll see what happens.  It's only me getting makeup done so I will probably have to go to her if I use her which isn't a big deal since she lives on SI too.

I will also try CL.  Just figured I would put the word out here and on FB to see if anyone knows anyone who is freelancing or building a portfolio.

    Thanks!
