Questions for Coonamessett Inn Brides

Hi ladies,  I have a few questions about the Coonmassett Inn that I hope you might be able to answer before my parents and I visit the venue.

1. Do you get a lot of choice in your wedding cake?  (flavors, designs, etc?)  The bride wants a sea shell theme cake and I can't gather from the web site what is possible.

2. If you chose the Gold Reception, can you bargain on teh price at all?  Specifically, I am wondering if they will drop the price if you drop the raw bar?

3. Am i correct that the Gold Reception takes the place of both cocktail hour and dinner? I think that is a little strange.

4. Did anyone chose to have a plated dinner instead of the Gold Reception?  I think that is the cheaper way to go, right?

Thanks!

I had a friend get married at the Coonamessett.  They will negotiate the price of the Gold reception if you take out the raw bar, but not by much.  They have their wedding cakes done by Casual Gourmet in Centerville, so the bride can choose whatever she would like.

The Gold reception does cover the cocktail hour and dinner.  We had the Gold and I have to say it was awesome.  I liked it much better than a plated meal.

    1. Do you get a lot of choice in your wedding cake?  Yes, like prior post says you deal with Casual Gourmet

    2. If you chose the Gold Reception, can you bargain on teh price at all?  Specifically, I am wondering if they will drop the price if you drop the raw bar? Not sure

    3. Am i correct that the Gold Reception takes the place of both cocktail hour and dinner? Exactly why I am not doing it. I really want a cocktail hour

    4. Did anyone chose to have a plated dinner instead of the Gold Reception?  I think that is the cheaper way to go, right? I am doing a plated dinner but it is in no way cheaper than the gold reception. You may be able to do a simple dinner and have it be less but you might want to do apps, soups, salad etc.  I just want a cocktail hour, and have it be more spread out. I also want to do place settings and they don't allow you to do assigned seating with the gold reception.

I have been to both kinds of receptions there and they are very different... but both really nice.   With the plated dinner is seems quite formal and refined and the service is awesome...
the Golden reception is big and opened up and informal.. and a feast actually.  Very mix and mingle based ...
I do not think they negotiate much at all on price... and as much as I  find them kinda gross myself, down here people just plain love the raw bar thing...

The cake is fine from casual gourmet...very tasty though not amazingly well decorated... You can also opt to use Delicious Desserts if you pay seprately and want a work of art type cake.. I think That is the only other baker they allow and she is the very best in the area .  but they do allow her ( lisa Raffaelle)

I had my reception at The Coonamessett Inn this past August. M Iy parents paid for my wedding so they made most of the decisions as to reception packages, while I focused on the details. As far as the cake, the Coonamessett Inn goes through The Casual Gourmet. They worked really well with me to create my own cake. I couldn't find any cakes online that I really loved that would go with my theme. So I created my own cake with a graphic program on the computer and sent it to The Casual Gourmet via email. They made the cake exactly how I wanted it. It was beautiful. As far as the food packages, we had the plated dinner so I don't know anything about the Gold Reception. But the plated dinner was fabulous....AMAZING food!!!! The Coonamessett did an amazing job and I would recommend them to anyone!
