Anyone else?

Ok so I'll admit I've been focusing on wedding stuff lately rather than working. Terrible I know. It doesn't help that I only have 5 more working days after today between now and my wedding so it's hard to focus.

Today I've been making lists of important phone numbers for every vendor, hotel, ect. I've also been writing out a list of what to pack for the honeymoon and wedding. This branched out to google mapping directions around Colorado Springs for our errands on Friday to pick up stuff like the wedding license, tuxes, cupcakes.

Then I moved on to honeymoon airport transfers. Is anyone else travelling out of the country on their honeymoon? If so what are you doing about cell phones? We are thinking about leaving our iPhones at home and taking a disposable cell so we have something for emergencies but don't care if it gets lost. Also we want to not be connected to technology for the trip.

I just suddenly feel like there are so many things so take care of or think about. Ahhhh.. Is anyone else doing the same?

Janthana and I both have global ready Blackberries. Not sure why, but I insisted that my phones be global ready even before I met her. Like the other post said, if you're on Verizon, unless you have an iPhone 4s, it's not a global ready phone which limits you to CDMA networks. If you're not on Verizon, it probably depends on your phone. However, depending on the country you're going to, it's cheaper a lot of times to get a cheap throw away phone and SIM card to use while you're there.
  • we probably wont take anything. we will have our computers tho.
sorry its short. i just did my nails.
  • we have at&t and I know our phones would work, but we don't want the temptation of internet available. We are also not taking our laptops. So far opting for the disposable phone. I've never had a disposable phone though so this could be interesting. :) I've also debated getting the international plan and taking my iPhone 4 (not the S) but again with the internet.

My Verizon phone worked fine in Jamaica. The charges were outrageous though.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Anyone else? : I got lucky on the vacation time. I changed jobs in July which was 6 months into wedding planning so we'd obviously already picked our date and booked our venue. My new job is with the college I also attend and they shut down for almost two weeks over Christmas which doesn't come out of my vacation pay. Huge plus as to why I took this job. but after working full time and attending school full time I know I'm going to love a few weeks of a break to de-stress before the wedding.

So jealous of this!!! I know I would love to be able to have this, but I am going to have to settle for being off the Thurs, Fri, and Sat before the wedding, Sun the day of the wedding, and the Mon & Tues after the wedding. My Store Manager told me today I am going to have to work the 1st and 2nd of January because she won't be able to function after the new year. I'm supposed to meet with my venue one of the 2 days to discuss the table set up. UGH!!

so i am super busy at work but just glanced at this and wanted to answer.... yes we are traveling out of the country for our honeymoon. Unless you have an iPhone 4S (if with Verizon) you cannot have international service...I just connect my old world blackberry when we travel internationally so a) we have service and b) if i lose it, it isn't the end of the world!

I have tons of wedding stuff to do but work is exploding!!

Good luck to you (and super jealous about the upcoming vacation time!

  • When I traveled to Jamaica I didnt change my phone plan or anything. I just took my phone with me just in case something happened. Most cell phone carriers have an international plan in place.

I will probably bring my phone for stand-by on the honeymoon and keep it on for emergency calls only.

  • Verizon does not work anywhere but the US. It looks like it works, but it doesn't. It is actually better, if going to Europe, to buy an international disposable phone there. In my experience, the rates tend to be cheaper. I just always had a calling card, and used it to dial out, and people called me back.
