New York-Hudson Valley

i posted this on ceremony board, but hoping for a response.....ceremony/vendor?

i am having a wedding ceremony in a garden at the same venue as the reception. I have a few questions, if any one can help it would be appreciated.
So we will be married in a garden followed by cocktail hour. the cocktail hour space is on a raised veranda behind where the ceremony will take place. After cocktails, the reception will take place across the lodge indoors. I have been scouting a few djs and hope to pick one soon.
For the ceremony I recently had the idea to get a string quartet. I forgot all about the music at first. I wanted to walk down the isle to an instrumental of bittersweet symphony and then have the quartet play for the cocktail hour. Hope to have them play all instrumentals of modern music...nothing stuffy, like what the vitamin quartet play.  I live in NY (Hudson valley) and am getting married in northeast PA (the Pocono's) Any one know what a quartet cost or of a local one for that matter? I know its where you like and such. I but was thinking a small 2-4 person deal to play ceremony music and cocktail hour?

So my next question is the officiating. I was thinking of having the judge FI and I previously worked for. Do I pick out my vows or can they come standard?  Kind of like the words that have been repeated before...

Any ideas/thoughts would be awesome

Hi! Welcome and congratulations on your engagement!

Re - the ceremony musicians. I would post this on the Northeastern PA board. You could look into the Capriccio ensemble which gets recommended here all the time, but any of the rates that other girls have gotten are going to be for local venues. You can certainly call them to ask, but they would probably also charge you a travel fee. (That's not something to be scared of, sometimes it actually ends up being a less expensive way to go to get great quality) So, you can certainly contact Capriccio, but I'd also post on the PA board so those girls can give you feedback on local musicians.

Re - your vows. I'd ask the judge that you and FI want to officiate at your wedding. He will be able to tell what he allows at his ceremonies.

    Good luck! Hope this helps!

Hi thanks for the input. I have contacted a college student I know in NEPA he is going to see if he can put something together for us. I have a hard time deciding where to post. I live on the border of 2 other states. Live in one, getting married in another, and yet there is a 3rd a stones throw away. great for vendor choices i guess.
