Videographer

Hi fellow Chicago Knotties!! I am getting married In July and I am so on the fence about a videographer. WE are on a VERY tight budget due to me having my hours at work cut earlier this year for 7 months so it's really not something we can afford. I never wanted one to begin with, but I would love to at least have the ceremony, toasts, and first dances taped. Did any of you who are already married have one or did you just have a family member videotape? I am honestly leaning towards having one my family friends tape for me. For you brides not married yet, are you using one? I have also heard that you can call a community college or university and have a college student who studies video do it for a small fee. HELP!

Could I ask what your budget is?

Well, we were at around $1000 for this, but now it's not even an option in our budget anymore, which is why I am leaning more towards just having a family friend do it.

I have seen quite a few of our friends use a family member or friend to video tape. If you were to do this I would suggest that if you are getting married in a church to have them set up microphones so that your vows will be recorded. If you are looking to use someone I can refer you to a couple people in your budget.

We used Go Wedding Video out of Lockport, IL. Our plan was just about $1000, but that was for 9 hours of coverage. Maybe they would do something cheaper if only for a couple of hours? It couldn't hurt to ask around.

  • I am in the same boat - had not planned to have a videographer since I am spending so much on my photographer, but I would like the ceremony and toasts filmed. Would love any suggestions!

We're in the same situation. Went through craigslist and found Jared...here's an example video

This is the best price and the highlights vid still looks good. We met up with him yesterday. He doesn't talk much...we're waiting for him to send the contract to review it.
$750 3 cameras, two camera men, bride groom prep, ceremony, reception, and editing
